Stabilization of Semiconductor Lasers
2012Chaos and instabilities are not only the effects in semiconductor lasers with external perturbations. Semiconductor lasers are also strongly stabilized by external perturbations under appropriate parameter conditions. Optical injection from a different laser is a typical example of laser stabilizations.

Abstract : The development and testing of a stabilized laser gravimeter is discussed. A parametric excitation system that is adaptable to the gravimeter is also described. The design and initial development of the stabilized laser gravimeter system have been previously described in AFCRL-TR-74-0355.

Perhaps a more public-relations-sensitive title would be “Sabbatical in a Silicon Valley Paradise.” In fact, 1984 was a great year: George Orwell’s view of that future did appear and it did touch the lives of a significant fraction of mankind — but only as an Apple Computer advertisement during television coverage of the Super Bowl football game.
