Laser Power Stabilization beyond the Shot Noise Limit Using Squeezed Light.

Physical Review Letters, 2018
High levels of laser power stability are necessary for high precision metrology applications. The classical limit for the achievable power stability is determined by the shot noise of the light used to generate a power control signal.

An introduction to stabilized lasers

Contemporary Physics, 1989
Abstract This paper provides an introduction to methods for stabilizing continuous-wave single-mode lasers and discusses the fundamental limits on the maximum stability achievable. Both passive and active methods are described, the latter being treated by separating the problems of error discrimination and error correction.

Frequency-stabilized laser-diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser

Optics Letters, 1989
We describe a frequency-stabilized diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser that is actively frequency stabilized relative to a reference Fabry-Perot cavity using the Pound-Drever technique. We describe the servo loop and the measurement of its noise and gain performance and demonstrate its ability to reduce the laser frequency noise close to the shotnoise limit of ...

Five-year frequency stability of a Zeeman stabilized laser

Applied Optics, 1989
A five-year record of the lockpoint frequency of a Zeeman stabilized laser shows an observed drift rate of 0.3 +/- 0.5 MHz/yr following an initial drift of 5.7 +/- 2.2 MHz/yr in the first eighteen months of intermittent operation. A second Zeeman laser drifted at a rate of -0.8 +/- 1.0 MHz/yr over the last 2.5 yr; the frequency drift was -0.2 +/- 0.6 ...

Microcavity-Stabilized Quantum Cascade Laser

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2016
A CaF2 whispering gallery mode microresonator is used for frequency stabilization and linewidth narrowing of a mid-IR quantum cascade laser. Sub-Doppler recording of a CO2 transition demonstrates the suitability of the system for high-resolution spectroscopy.

Atomic Stabilization by Super-Intense Lasers

Science, 1993
Supercomputer simulations predict the creation of an unexpectedly stable form of atomic matter when ordinary atoms are irradiated by very intense, high-frequency laser pulses. In the rising edge of a very intense pulse of ionizing radiation, the atom's wave function distorts adiabatically into a distribution with two well-separated peaks.

Low power lasers on genomic stability

Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology, 2018
Exposure of cells to genotoxic agents causes modifications in DNA, resulting to alterations in the genome. To reduce genomic instability, cells have DNA damage responses in which DNA repair proteins remove these lesions. Excessive free radicals cause DNA damages, repaired by base excision repair and nucleotide excision repair pathways.

A three-step laser stabilization scheme for excitation to Rydberg levels in 85Rb

, 2011
We demonstrate a three-step laser stabilization scheme for excitation to nP and nF Rydberg states in 85Rb, with all three lasers stabilized using active feedback to independent Rb vapor cells.

Laser Wavelength Stabilization

2018
Figure 7.1 depicts the scheme of a feedback loop that underlies many servo systems used to stabilize the frequency of optical lasers. This chapter presents examples of the ways this stabilization can be realized. Basically, the scheme consists of a wavelength comparator that generates the error signal for the feedback loop by processing a reference ...
