Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact

An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

Impact of Co Doping in MoS2 on Water Interaction Mechanisms for Sustainable Hydrogen Generation: Insights from In Situ Soft‐XAS

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
The in situ soft‐X‐ray absorption spectroscopy characterizations in the presence of water vapor and by applying a bias revealed the Co‐doping effects in dichalcogenide MoS2 systems for water‐splitting applications. In this article, we study, at the atomic level, the evolution of Co and Mo sites in the different environmental conditions in Co‐doped and ...

Dual Excitation and Dual Emission in a 1,4‐Diazepine Bearing an Extended π‐System

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Cyclodehydrogenation of a previously reported nanographene BDI leads to the formation of a 1,4‐diazepine via scandium‐catalyzed C‐H bond formation. This compound exhibits a unique combination of dual excitation and dual emission. The dual emission was found to be caused by a combination of charge transfer and geometric relaxation in the excited state ...

How Donor–Bridge–Acceptor Orientation and Chemical Modification Affect the Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Abilities of Boron‐Based Emitters

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, EarlyView.
Quantum chemistry has been used to investigate the key factors that determine the (reverse) intersystem crossing processes in boron‐based organic light‐emitting diode emitters. The ortho‐linked through‐space charge‐transfer compounds exhibit smaller singlet–triplet splittings than their para‐linked through‐bond charge‐transfer regioisomers.

Grating formation in BGG31 glass by UV exposure [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A three-dimensional index variation grating in bulk BGG31 glass written using neither hydrogen loading nor germanium doping is demonstrated. This material is useful for fabricating ion-exchanged waveguides, and its photosensitivity to ultraviolet (UV ...

Contributions of arid climate and hydrothermal fluid flow on sedimentation in saline‐alkaline lakes: Insight from the Ibar intramontane basin (Southern Serbia)

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, EarlyView.
The article demonstrates that brine was central for the supply of Ca and B to the studied saline lake. The ion transport occurred probably by thermal springs, while contributions from surface waters cannot be excluded. However, the saturation and syndepositional precipitation of Ca borates were initiated by an arid climate through evaporation, while ...
