On the mechanisms of wetting characteristics modification for selected metallic materials by means of high power diode laser radiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This work elucidates and analyses the factors responsible for modifications to the wettability characteristics of metallic materials after high power diode laser (HPDL) treatment.

Shielding effect of the smoke plume by the ablation of excimer lasers

open access: yesBMC Ophthalmology, 2018
Background Shielding and scattering effect of the smoke plume column ejected from the laser ablated material is a well-known phenomenon. Debris evacuation system of the excimer laser equipment removes these particles, but insufficient air flow can result

Transverse Optical Mode Patterns for an RF Excited Ar-He-Xe Laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Transverse optical modes for an RF excited Ar-He-Xe laser are studied both experimentally and theoretically. A diffraction model for a waveguide with a nonsaturable gain and refractive index gradients placed between two plane mirrors is formulated.

Excimer Lasers

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 1987
A review of excimer laser systems is presented, including basic physical data, technology, performances and applications. The last few years have seen a rapid development of this new type of gas lasers and of many commercial systems producing efficient high power pulses of ultra-violet radiation.

Effect of open ultraviolet germicidal irradiation lamps on functionality of excimer lasers used in cornea surgery [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ophthalmology, 2017
We report on the impact of direct ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) on reflective optics, used in the excimer laser system Allegretto Eye-Q. The aim of our work was to confirm our hypothesis based on long-rate observations of obtained anomalies ...

A modified model for laser-cornea interaction following the ablation effect in the laser eye-surgery

open access: yesBeni-Suef University Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences, 2023
Background Laser corneal reshaping is a successful treatment of many refraction disorders. However, some physical demonstrations for the laser interaction with cornea are not fully explained. In the current paper, we present a modified model to precisely

In Situ Study of Resistive Switching in a Nitride‐Based Memristive Device

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ TEM biasing experiment demonstrates the volatile I‐V characteristic of MIM lamella device. In situ STEM‐EELS Ti L2/L3 ratio maps provide direct evidence of the oxygen vacancies migrations under positive/negative electrical bias, which is critical for revealing the RS mechanism for the MIM lamella device.
