Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Ice age unfrozen: severe effect of the last interglacial, not glacial, climate change on East Asian avifauna

open access: yesBMC Evolutionary Biology, 2017
Background The glacial-interglacial cycles in the Pleistocene caused repeated range expansion and contraction of species in several regions in the world.

Indian monsoon variability on millennial-orbital timescales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Indian summer monsoon (ISM) monsoon is critical to billions of people living in the region. Yet, significant debates remain on primary ISM drivers on millennial-orbital timescales.

Immune‐Driven Expression in Inclusion Body Myositis With T‐Cell Large Granular Lymphocytic Leukemia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives T‐cell large granular lymphocytic leukemia (T‐LGLL), reported in up to 58% of inclusion body myositis (IBM) patients, is a rare leukemia of cytotoxic or less commonly helper T cells. The range of myopathies in T‐LGLL and the impact of coexisting T‐LGLL in IBM are not well understood. Our objectives are to investigate the spectrum of

Radiocarbon evidence for enhanced respired carbon storage in the Atlantic at the Last Glacial Maximum [PDF]

open access: yes
The influence of ocean circulation changes on atmospheric CO2 hinges primarily on the ability to alter the ocean interior's respired nutrient inventory.

The northern sector of the last British ice sheet : maximum extent and demise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Strongly divided opinion has led to competing, apparently contradictory, views on the timing, extent, flow configuration and decay mechanism of the last British Ice Sheet.

Characterization of Clinical Phenotype to Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein Concentrations in Alexander Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the concentration of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma in Alexander disease (AxD) and whether GFAP levels are predictive of disease phenotypes. Methods CSF and plasma were collected (longitudinally when available) from AxD participants and non‐AxD controls.

Slow Dynamics of Hydrate Systems Revealed by a Double BSR

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Determining how gas hydrate distribution evolved along continental margins in the past is essential to understanding its evolution in the future. Moreover, hydrate decomposition has been linked to several catastrophic events, including some of the ...

Modeling of the northern hemisphere ice sheets during the last glacial cycle and glaciological sensitivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We present a new three-dimensional thermomechanically coupled ice sheet model of the northern hemisphere to reconstruct the Quaternary ice sheets during the last glacial cycle.

ALDOA Promotes Glycolysis and NLRP3/GSDMD Pyroptosis to Accelerate ALS Progression

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is characterized by progressive motor neuron degeneration. Glycolytic dysregulation is implicated in disease progression, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study investigates how Aldolase A (ALDOA) drives ALS progression through glycolysis‐mediated motor neuron pyroptosis.
