Effect of latanoprost as adjunctive therapy
Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2000Latanoprost may be a useful adjunct in some patients receiving maximum tolerated medical therapy. We report our clinical experience with latanoprost when added to one or two other glaucoma medications.Review of the charts of 53 patients with open-angle glaucoma whose intraocular pressure (IOP) was uncontrolled with one or two glaucoma medications and ...

Latanoprost for the Treatment of Pediatric Glaucoma
Survey of Ophthalmology, 2002Latanoprost is a prostaglandin F(2alpha) analog that reduces intraocular pressure (IOP) by 20-40% in adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. The efficacy and safety of latanoprost in children has not been widely reported, but there are at least three peer-reviewed publications involving the use of this drug in the treatment of pediatric

The aim of the study was to assess the efficacy and safety of latanoprost in the long-term treatment of glaucoma. The study was designed as a randomized, 6-month double-masked parallel group, multicenter study comparing latanoprost with timolol followed by an 18-month open-label, multicenter study in which all patients were treated with latanoprost. In ...

Allergic Contact Dermatitis to Latanoprost
American Journal of Contact Dermatitis, 2002An 85-year-old male with glaucoma presented with a 1-1/2 year history of tearing; red eyes; and pruritic, edematous, eczematous eyelids. Treatment for presumed ocular rosacea and seborrhea was unhelpful. Patch testing to our standard 64 antigens yielded a positive reaction to Balsam of Peru.

Latanoprost and Cholinergic Agonists in Combination
Survey of Ophthalmology, 2002Latanoprost, a prodrug of a prostaglandin F(2alpha) analog, is a potent ocular hypotensive agent, reducing intraocular pressure (IOP) primarily by increasing aqueous humor drainage through the uveoscleral outflow pathway. Initial assessments in animals found that high concentrations of cholinergic agonists reduced drainage through this pathway and ...

Latanoprost and herpes simplex keratitis
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1999To report three cases in which herpes simplex keratitis developed after initiation of latanoprost therapy.Case report. One patient with a history of herpes simplex keratitis had recurrence of herpes simplex keratitis with latanoprost treatment, resolution when latanoprost was stopped, and another recurrence when rechallenged with latanoprost.

Hypertension secondary to treatment with latanoprost
Archivos de la Sociedad Española de Oftalmología (English Edition), 2015An 80 year old woman operated on by trabeculectomy for primary open-angle glaucoma due to increased pressure, who started treatment with latanoprost. Monitoring of blood pressure (BP) showed a statistically significant increase in both systolic and diastolic BP, coinciding with the use of topical hypotensive, which resolved by voluntarily suspending ...

Latanoprost-induced Skin Depigmentation
Journal of Glaucoma, 2017Latanoprost, and other prostaglandin analogs, have been previously associated with increased pigmentary reactions on the periocular skin. Here, we present a patient with paradoxical depigmentation of periocular skin within 1 year of latanoprost use in both eyes. This report is the first to document such an association, and clinicians should be aware of
