A 77 yr old male was referred for dyspnoea and recurrent infections of the lower airways for the previous five months. On the lateral chest roentgenogram a process in the tracheal area was found, and during bronchoscopy a polypoid tumour was seen about four centimetres above the main carina.

Late‐onset warfarin necrosis

SUMMARYA 43‐year‐old woman developed tenderness and induration of her thighs and lower abdomen, 56 days after commencing warfarin for aortic and mitral valve replacements. Investigations showed elevated inflammatory markers, mild renal impairment, normal echocardiogram and low protein C and S levels consistent with warfarin therapy.

Hereditary Late-Onset Lymphedema

Two different types of hereditary late-onset lymphedema are presented. In one family the father and one son had recurrent streptococcal lymphangitis beginning in childhood. In the son there was lymphatic hypoplasia in both legs with the infection having only occurred in one. Prophylaxis with penicillin prevented the recurrent lymphangitis.

Late-Onset Tibia Vara

Fifteen children with late-onset tibia vara were studied. There were seven unilateral and eight bilateral cases. Eleven children were male, four were female and 13 were black; 14 were obese. All had a history of gradually progressive genu varus (average onset 11 years); 12 had preoperative knee pain.

Cognition in late onset depression

The aim of study was to assess cognition in patients with late onset depression in a symptom-free remission period measuring event-related potentials and reaction times (RT) in a modified computer version of the Stroop test.
