New major and trace element and Nd-Sr isotope results are reported for the carbonatites of the Veseloe and Pogranichnoe occurrences, Northern Transbaikalia. The carbonatites from both these occurrences are enriched in Sr, Ba, LREE, Th, U, and depleted in Ti, Cr, and V relative to primitive mantle.

The Early Caledonian folded area of Central Asia comprises a variety of continental crust fragments with Early to Late Precambrian crystalline basement. Crystalline rocks, which form part of the Songino block, outcrop at the junction between the Dzabkhan and Tuva-Mongolian terranes.

Magmatic evolution in the western margin of the Siberian Craton has attracted the attention of many specialists in the context of debatable problems concerning the formation and breakdown of the Meso- and Neoproterozoic Rodinia supercontinent, the evolution of the Paleoasian ocean, and the origin of the Central Asian Foldbelt [1‐3].

Recent studies of the Riphean‐ Venetian succession of the Russian Platform have indicated that geological factors favourable for the occurrence of hydrocarbons may be present. These factors include substantial thicknesses of sedimentary rocks; the presence of reservoir rocks and seals, together with source rocks containing sapropelic organic matter ...

The research was focused on the Mara–Kamenka–Uvat interfluve of the Biryusinsky ledge of the Siberian Platform, where more than half a century ago, during prospecting works for manganese, the Marа paleovolcano was identified. However, specific volcanogenic-sedimentary rocks were considered as a part of the Karagas sedimentary series of the Late Riphean.

A new way of formation of the problematic Molar Tooth (MT) structures, which, along with stromatolites, could be considered as a “visiting card” of the Riphean, was examined on the example of carbonate sediments of the Riphean Sukhaya Tunguska Formation from the Turukhansk Uplift, Siberia.

The Linok Formation is made up of clayey and carbonate strata, 180–300 m thick, formed at the terminal Middle Riphean on the northwestern margin of the Siberian Platform. In the modern structure, it is exposed in the lower part of the Turukhansk Uplift section.
