Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Automated vehicle collisions in California: Applying Bayesian latent class model

open access: yes, 2020
The emerging technology of automated vehicles (AV) has been rapidly advancing and is accompanied by various positive and negative potentials. The new technology is expected to affect costs mainly by reducing the number of collisions and travel time, as ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

The Application of Latent Class Analysis for Investigating Population Child Mental Health: A Systematic Review

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2019
Background: Latent class analysis (LCA) can be used to identify subgroups of children with similar patterns of mental health symptoms and/or strengths. The method is becoming more commonly used in child mental health research, but there are reservations ...

Post‐COVID Fatigue Is Associated With Reduced Cortical Thickness After Hospitalization

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Neuropsychiatric symptoms are among the most prevalent sequelae of COVID‐19, particularly among hospitalized patients. Recent research has identified volumetric brain changes associated with COVID‐19. However, it currently remains poorly understood how brain changes relate to post‐COVID fatigue and cognitive deficits.

Uncovering eHealth Engagement Patterns Through Latent Class Analysis and SHAP: A Data Mining Perspective on Telehealth Access

open access: yesInformation
Understanding how patients engage with digital health technologies is critical for improving the reach and equity of telehealth services. While prior research has largely focused on demographic predictors of telehealth use, this study applies a hybrid ...

Item selection by Latent Class-based methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The evaluation of nursing homes is usually based on the administration of questionnaires made of a large number of polytomous items. In such a context, the Latent Class (LC) model represents a useful tool for clustering subjects in homogenous groups ...
