Scour From Cyclic Lateral Loading of Piles
Offshore Technology Conference, 1989ABSTRACT Two types of scour can be identified at piles supporting offshore structures:erosion of the sea bottom (sea-bottom scour) at obstructions due to oscillatory waves and unidirectional currents, andthe loss of soil around a pile due to the cyclic deflection of the pile under wave forces.

Single pile response to cyclic lateral load
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1982An analysis is presented for the deflection of a pile in clay subjected to quasi-static cyclic lateral loading. This analysis is an extension of the elastic continuum analysis for static pile response, and allows for the reduction of soil modulus and yield pressure with increasing cyclic strain or deflection.

Cyclic loading of laterally confined concrete columns
Materials and Structures, 1993The behaviour under cyclic load of stub concrete columns confined laterally by a novel method of reinforcement is described. The columns were confined by an orthogonal system of steel bolts, and were loaded axially in compression in slow cycles. These were compared with similar columns loaded to failure monotonically in compression.

Lateral Stress in Sands During Cyclic Loading
Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1975Laboratory data are presented of lateral stress (expressed in terms of the coefficient of lateral stress K) changes in dry sand in response to cycling of vertical and shear loads. The data demonstrate the variation of K with initial void ratio, vertical loading history and shear loading history.

Calculation of cyclic response of laterally loaded piles
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1990Abstract A numerical model based on discrete elements has been developed which calculates the cyclic response of laterally loaded foundation piles. The soil behaviour is modeled with the so-called HYGADE-element. This element models the gap formation around the pile, the degradation of the soil strength and the backsliding of the soil into the gap ...

A Device to Cyclic Lateral Loaded Model Piles
Geotechnical Testing Journal, 2006Abstract Model tests on small scale piles subject to cyclic lateral loading have been carried out with the purpose of simulating the pile soil behavior and its lateral resistance under environmental loads. An efficient mechanical loading system has been developed.

Cyclic shakedown of piles subjected to two‐dimensional lateral loading
International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 2009AbstractPile foundations are frequently subjected to cyclic lateral loads. Wave and wind loads on offshore structures will be applied in different directions and times during the design life of a structure. Therefore, the magnitude and direction of these loads in conjunction with the dead loads should be considered.

Lateral Instability and Lateral Bracing of Steel Beams Subjected to Cyclic Loading
Journal of Structural Engineering, 2002This paper presents an analytical study of the lateral–torsional instability and lateral bracing effects of wide-flange steel beams subjected to cyclic loading. Numerical analysis using the large deformation theory was conducted to collect the necessary data. Examined were wide-flange steel beams bent in double curvature and subjected to cyclic loading

Laterally cyclic loading of monopile in dense sand
2011In order to investigate the response from laterally cyclic loading of monopiles a large centrifuge tests series is ongoing at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). This paper will present some of the tests carried out with a focus on the influence of accumulation of rotation when changing the loading conditions.
