Bolt Pull-Out Failure Analysis and Structural Optimisation for Heavy-Duty Rod End Bearings via a Combined Numerical-Analytical Method

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Rod-end spherical bearings are widely used in heavy machinery, wind power, and transportation. Their bolted connections directly determine structural safety but are prone to pull-out failure under maximum articulation angle and heavy load.

Study on Separation Characteristics of Nozzles with Large Expansion Ratio of Solid Rocket Motors

open access: yesAerospace, 2022
In order to study the flow characteristics of a nozzle with large expansion ratio and its influence on the force on the nozzle, ground cold flow test research and a fluid–structure coupling simulation analysis were carried out (maximum expansion ratio ε =

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Mechanisms underlying lateral force applied to a PDC cutter on a PDC drill bit during rotary rock breaking

open access: yesMeitian dizhi yu kantan
ObjectiveTo improve the rock-breaking efficiency and durability of drill bits in the theoretical research on the optimal design of drill bits, the key is to systematically reveal both the rock-breaking mechanisms of polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC ...

The influence of the mode of engine operation of transport and technological cars on the beating at the coupling piston-cylinder [PDF]

open access: yesНаучно-технический вестник Брянского государственного университета, 2019
Relocation or beating of the piston occurs due to the action of lateral force in the crank mechanism, which leads to an increase in friction forces and shock loads in conjunction with the sleeve.

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

Imaging Chromosome by a Lateral Force Microscope

open access: yesAnalytical Sciences, 2000
Physanum polycephahum chromosomes were first imaged by a lateral force microscope. We observed the fine structure of metaphase and prophase chromosomes, which indicates that the lateral force microscope has a potential application for exploring chromosome structure. The principle of a 0° scan angle lateral force microscope is also discussed.

Leucine‐rich glioma inactivated 1 (LGI1) is a ganglioside‐binding protein

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neuronal hyperexcitability associated with a decrease/absence of the extracellular protein LGI1 has been suggested to be primarily due to the downregulation of Kv1 channel expression. The molecular mechanisms underlying this decrease have not yet been elucidated.

Improvement of curving performance of railway vehicle by axle box suspension with variable longitudinal stiffness

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2018
In order to improve the running performance of a railway vehicle, the authors developed the axle box suspension with the magnetic elastomer. The magnetic elastomer is composed of magnetic particles and the elastomer such as synthetic rubber.
