Experimental studies on seakeeping and maneuverability of ships in adverse weather conditions [PDF]
The introduction of the energy efficiency design index (EEDI), which is applicable for various types of new-built ships after January 1,2013, raised concerns regarding the sufficiency of propulsion power and steering devices to maintain maneuverability ...

Measurement of the Lateral Earth Pressure Coefficient of Clayey Soils by Modified Oedometer Test [PDF]
The coefficient of lateral earth pressure at rest (K0) explains the connection between the effective vertical and lateral stresses. Geotechnical engineers have studied K0 for many years for its being a key element in the designs and analysis of various ...

Mechanical Response Analysis for an Active–Passive Pile Adjacent to Surcharge Load
Due to the complexity of pile–soil interaction, there is little research on active–passive piles that bear the pile-top load transmitted from the superstructure and the pile shaft load caused by the lateral soil movement around the pile simultaneously ...

Analysis of Vertical Irregular structures with and without Lateral force Resisting System
In recent days Vertical Irregular buildings have been taking over conventional regular buildings. Vertical Irregular building gained importance due to its aesthetic and functional aspects. But the buildings with Vertical Irregularities are more vulnerable to lateral loads mainly seismic vibrations.

Directional stability of an agricultural tractor [PDF]
The discrepancy between the plow width and the tractor width leads to the asymmetry of plowing units. The geometry of the plowshare surface of the moldboard plow contributes to the generation of lateral forces on the working tool.

Influence of lateral geometry on magnetoresistance and magnetisation reversal in Ni80Fe20 wires [PDF]
The magnetisation reversal processes and magnetoresistance behaviour in micron-sized Ni80Fe20 wires with triangular and rectangular modulated width have been studied. The wires were fabricated by electron beam lithography and a lift-off process.
