Similarity Laws for Stressing Heated Wings [PDF]

open access: yes, 1953
It will be shown that the differential equations for a heated plate with large temperature gradient and for a similar plate at constant temperature can be made the same by a proper modification of the thickness and the loading for the isothermal plate ...

Study on the Soil–Pile Interaction of Slender Piles in Multi-Layered Soil by the Variational Analysis Method

open access: yesBuildings
To rapidly and precisely calculate the slender pile response and the soil resistance under lateral load in offshore wind power projects, the energy-based variational method was used to improve the calculation method of laterally loaded slender piles in ...

Cyclic behavior of the R/C frames with reinforced masonry infills [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2020
This study focuses on the experimental works to define the behavior of the reinforced concrete (R/C) frame model with the strengthening of the brick masonry infill by using the embedded reinforcement bars subjected to lateral reversed cyclic loads.

Numerical Simulation Study on Lateral Displacement of Pile Foundation and Construction Process under Stacking Loads

open access: yesComplexity, 2018
Lateral displacement of pile foundation is crucial to the safety of an overall structure. In this study, a numerical simulation on the lateral displacement of pile foundation under stacking loads was conducted to determine its relation with different ...

A biomechanical analysis of the farmers walk, and comparison with the deadlift and unloaded walk [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This study compared the biomechanical characteristics of the farmers walk, deadlift and unloaded walk. Six experienced male strongman athletes performed farmers' walks and deadlifts at 70% of their 1RM deadlift.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Improving the Behavior of Non-Uniform Tall Structures in Determining the Optimum Location of Belt Truss System [PDF]

open access: yesComputational Engineering and Physical Modeling, 2020
The sensitivity of tall buildings subjected to the lateral loads is more than that of the gravity loads. Therefore, the conventional methods are not efficient yet, and new methods are proposed by designers to reduce the structural roof displacement ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.
