Horizontal capacity of skirted circular shallow footings on sand

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2010
Shallow footings are subjected to lateral forces induced by earthquake movements, wind loads, water wave pressure, lateral earth pressure, and transmitting power cables.

Modeling of gravity-designed RC sub-assemblages subjected to lateral loads

open access: yes, 2017
This paper aims to propose numerical models for seismic assessment of old existing RC beam-column sub-assemblages. In particular, two modeling approaches are described: for internal (usually named “C joints”) and for external (named “T joints”) beam ...

The Effects of Interlocking a Universal Hip Cementless Stem on Implant Subsidence and Mechanical Properties of Cadaveric Canine Femora. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
ObjectiveTo determine if an interlocking bolt would limit subsidence of the biological fixation universal hip (BFX(®)) femoral stem under cyclic loading and enhance construct stiffness, yield, and failure properties.Study designEx vivo biomechanical ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Improving the Behavior of Non-Uniform Tall Structures in Determining the Optimum Location of Belt Truss System [PDF]

open access: yesComputational Engineering and Physical Modeling, 2020
The sensitivity of tall buildings subjected to the lateral loads is more than that of the gravity loads. Therefore, the conventional methods are not efficient yet, and new methods are proposed by designers to reduce the structural roof displacement ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Giant pop-ins and amorphization in germanium during indentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Sudden excursions of unusually large magnitude (>1 μm), “giant pop-ins,” have been observed in the force-displacement curve for high load indentation of crystalline germanium(Ge).

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Analysis of the Elastic Large Deflection Behavior for Metal Plates under Nonuniformly Distributed Lateral Pressure with In-Plane Loads

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
The Galerkin method is applied to analyze the elastic large deflection behavior of metal plates subject to a combination of in-plane loads such as biaxial loads, edge shear and biaxial inplane bending moments, and uniformly or nonuniformly distributed ...

An experimental study of the effect of lateral static load on cyclic response of pile group in sandy soil

open access: yesJournal of the Mechanical Behavior of Materials, 2023
The application of two different lateral loads (i.e., the first is static and the other is cyclic load) at the same time to pile group seems a complex problem.
