Lateral Torsional Buckling of Wood Beams

2014
Structural wood design standards recognize lateral torsional buckling as an important failure mode, which tends to govern the capacity of long span laterally unsupported beams. A survey of the literature indicates that only a few experimental programs have been conducted on the lateral torsional buckling of wooden beams.

Buckling of Laterally or Torsionally Restrained Beams

Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1973
A theoretical study is made of the elastic lateral buckling of simply supported, bisymmetrical I-beams provided with a central brace capable of supplying either lateral or torsional restraint. Loading consisting of either equal end moments, a central load, or a uniform load is considered and the effects of variations in the level of application of both

Buckling curves for lateral torsional buckling of unrestrained beams

2007
In Eurocode 3 two methods to determine the ultimate lateral torsional buckling load of steel beams in bending are presented: the General and the Specific Methods. Both methods make use of buckling curves, but the curves to be used are different for both methods.

Lateral-Torsional Buckling of Tapered I-Beams

Journal of the Structural Division, 1981
The lateral-torsional buckling behavior of non-prismatic beams is not yet fully documented. Using the total change in potential energy during buckling, a fourth-order differential equation in the angle of twist, B, is obtained, in which the location of the transverse load with respect to the centroid is considered.

The buckling curve for lateral-torsional buckling resistance of castellated beams

2008
In determining the resistance of castellated beams to lateral-torsional buckling according to Eurocode 3 (EN 1993-1-1) the application of the appropriate buckling curve is crucial. The calculation resistance model to lateral torsional buckling is defined only for bending memebers of constant cross-section and for rolled I-sections (buckling curve a and
