Arachnoid cyst of the lateral ventricle
Surgical Neurology, 1997Arachnoid cysts rarely occur within the lateral ventricles, with only 10 reported cases in the literature. They may arise from the arachnoid layer that is present in the choroidal fissure. This 25-year-old man with headache and a left jacksonian seizure had an intraventricular arachnoid cyst of the right occipital horn and trigone found on radiologic ...

Tumors of the Lateral Ventricles
1984Since the earliest anatomical descriptions of intra-ventricular tumors, neurosurgeons have shown a high degree of interest in the management of these neoplasms, perhaps because these tumors grow freely in an existing cavity with minimal damage to the underlying brain.

Primary Oligodendroglioma of the Lateral Ventricle
Southern Medical Journal, 1990Oligodendrogliomas rarely occur primarily in the ventricular system. We have reported a case of primary oligodendroglioma in the right lateral ventricle. The tumor was partially resected, a ventriculoperitoneal shunt was placed, and the patient had postoperative radiation therapy. She is asymptomatic at six months' follow-up.

Cysticercosis cerebri involving the lateral ventricle
Surgical Neurology, 1982Cysticercosis cerebri involving the lateral ventricle is very rare. Two cases with such localization are presented. One of the patients, with occlusion of the foramen of Monro, was successfully treated by operation. A larval form in the lateral ventricle was revealed incidentally at autopsy in the second patient after rupture of a large basilar artery ...

Epidermoid tumor in the lateral ventricle
Surgical Neurology, 1985After a review of the literature on the origin of epidermoid tumors, a case report is presented of an intraventricular localization of such a tumor. Two theories are discussed as an explanation for this rare site. This case report, in addition to some data from the literature, suggests that it is unacceptable to assume that epidermoids have a primary ...

Arteriovenous malformations of the lateral ventricle
Journal of Neurosurgery, 1985✓ Nine cases with arteriovenous malformations (AVM's) predominantly involving the lateral ventricle are presented. All the AVM's were small, but caused intraventricular hemorrhage in eight cases. Only two patients had an intracerebral hemorrhage large enough to warrant evacuation.

Lateral Recesses of the Fourth Ventricle
Radiology, 1972One hundred-fifty pneumoenecephalographic studies, during which serial anteroposterior tomography was performed, were reviewed to determine the appearance of the lateral recesses of the fourth ventricle in both normal and pathological states. Displacement of the lateral recesses will aid in differentiating between intra- and extra-axial posterior fossa

Epidermoid tumour of the lateral ventricle
Acta Neurochirurgica, 2005Epidermoids occurring within the lateral ventricles are rare. At one time, they were regarded as anatomical curiosities. The lesions are of developmental aetiology, due to migration of epiblast inclusion at the time of formation of the cerebral vesicle.

The Isolated Lateral Ventricle
1990Isolation of the lateral ventricle has long been known to occur following ventriculitis. However, in recent years, functional isolation of the lateral ventricle has been seen with increasing frequency. Since 1979, eight patients without evidence of infection have required treatment for an isolated lateral ventricle following insertion of a ...
