Hysteretic damping model for laterally loaded piles

open access: yes, 2021
Fatigue assessment is a critical design aspect for many offshore structures. Soil-foundation interaction has a direct impact on the system dynamic response of these structures.

White Matter Microstructural Abnormalities in Neonatal Onset Genetic Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Recent evidence indicates that epilepsy is associated with abnormal white matter. If seizures alter white matter, then the impact upon network function, epileptogenesis, and cognition could be pronounced in neonates undergoing rapid developmental myelination. Neonates with epilepsy due to nonstructural genetic causes provide a unique

Case study and practical analysis of lateral bearing characteristics of a single pile in Taihu soft soils using CPTU data

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2018
The muddy silty clay is rich in organic matter and widely distributed in Taihu soft soil foundation. It has a large water content and compressibility and is in a state of flow plasticity. All of these make it have bad engineering properties.

A Comparison of Simplified Modelling Approaches for Performance Assessment of Piles Subjected to Lateral Spreading of Liquefied Ground

open access: yesGeofluids, 2020
The lateral spreading of the ground due to liquefaction during earthquakes may considerably damage the embedded piles, which is an important issue in the seismic design of pile foundations.

T-EMSD-based p-y curve of laterally loaded piles in clay considering small-strain behavior

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2021
The international popular API code recommends the p-y curve method to analyze the nonlinear behavior of offshore wind turbine (OWT) steel pipe piles.

Nonlinear analysis of single model piles subjected to lateral load in sloping ground [PDF]

open access: yes
Uncertainty associated due to soil-pile interface and unreliable assessment of the pile bearing capacity constructed in sloping ground have been cited as barriers to the wide utilizations of the deep foundations in sloping ground.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Modeling Laterally Loaded Single Piles Accounting for Nonlinear Soil-Pile Interactions

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2013
The nonlinear behavior of a laterally loaded monopile foundation is studied using the finite element method (FEM) to account for soil-pile interactions.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
