A new teaching concept for axially loaded piles [PDF]
It is a common feature of teaching methodologies to divide the content into modules for lectures or book sections. However, these divisions are often not intrinsic to the real problems.

Numerical Analysis of Laterally Loaded Piles Affected by Bedrock Depth
This study investigates the lateral behavior of pile foundations socketed into bedrocks using 3D finite difference analysis. The lateral load-displacement curve, pile deflection, and bending moment distribution were obtained for different bedrock depths ...

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

A 2D DEM mono-pile model under combined loading condition [PDF]
This paper presents a 2D-Discrete Element Method (DEM) model that is used to study situations when vertical, lateral and combined loads are applied to a rigid mono-pile.

Analysis of coupled axial and lateral deformation of roots in soil [PDF]
Plant roots can help to stabilise slopes. Existing analytical models to predict their mechanical contribution are however limited: they typically focus on the ultimate limit state, employ various empirical factors, and ignore much of the underlying root ...
