LATEX-AGGLUTINATION SEROLOGIC TEST FOR TRICHINOSIS

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1959
The complement-fixation test has been in routine use in the First U. S. Army Medical Laboratory for the diagnosis of trichinosis. On occasion the bentonite-flocculation test has also been performed. Recently we have developed an agglutination procedure with latex (polystyrene) particles which promises to be as specific and sensitive, but less laborious,

Serotyping of streptococcus pneumoniae by latex agglutination

Pathology, 1988
A simple method is presented for serotyping Streptococcus pneumoniae which uses easily prepared sensitized polystyrene latex particles. The technique is simple, fast and reliable and can detect pneumococcal antigens in body fluids.

Identification of Legionella pneumophila by latex agglutination

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1983
A latex agglutination test for the identification of Legionella pneumophila serogroups 1 through 6 is described. The reagent is specific for L. pneumophila and enables the ready identification of L. pneumophila colonies on agar plates. Preliminary evidence suggests that latex agglutination enables the detection of soluble L.

Detection of typhus antibodies by latex agglutination

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1981
A latex test for assay of antibodies to endemic and epidemic typhus rickettsiae is simple, group-specific, sensitive, and reproducible. Cross-reactivity within the typhus group was extensive.

Latex slide agglutination test for aspergillus antibodies

Medical Mycology, 1970
A purified antigen prepared from the mycelia of Aspergillus fischeri was employed in a latex slide agglutination test for the detection of aspergillus antibodies in human sera. The antigen is apparently a galactomannan with a molecular weight of ≧ 100 000 and contains no detectable protein.

Agglutination of Latex Particles without Antigen Adsorption

The Journal of Immunology, 1965
Summary Latex particles were agglutinated during combination of antiserum with antigen in circumstances inhibiting detectable adsorption of the antigen. Antigen adsorption was inhibited by proportionate excesses of protein not involved in the antigen-antibody reaction. Evidence for the adsorption of measurable amounts of antigen-antibody

Detection of Barbiturates by Latex Agglutination Inhibition

Journal of Forensic Sciences, 1978
Abstract Spector and Flynn [1] initially demonstrated that antibodies to barbiturates could be elicited by immunization of rabbits with a secobarbital derivative coupled to bovine serum albumin. The resultant antiserum and a 14C- or 125I-labeled barbiturate derivative were used to develop a sensitive and specific radioimmunoassay [1–3 ...

Latex agglutination and adenoviruses. I. Detection of polyclonal antibodies by latex agglutination test.

Acta microbiologica Hungarica, 1994
A latex agglutination (LA) test was developed for the detection and measurement of polyclonal anti-adenovirus antibodies. Latex particles, coated with purified hexon, penton or fibre antigens displayed specific agglutination with 21 rabbit immune sera directed against the different antigens and the complete virus of 10 human and 2 animal adenovirus ...

Detection of Meningococcal Antigen by Latex Agglutination

2003
Meningococcal meningitis and septicemia are serious infections with significant morbidity and mortality. A sensitive affordable test is required to provide evidence of meningococcal disease at the earliest opportunity to improve local management and give early warning of potential outbreaks of disease.
