Do ESG Leaders Achieve Higher Firm Financial Performance? The Influence of Women Directors and Controversial Industries

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Given the growing pressure on companies to achieve high ESG performance while minimising ESG controversies, this study investigates how ESG performance and ESG controversies jointly affect firm financial performance (measured as ROA and ROE), considering the effect of the presence of women directors and of operating in controversial versus non‐

Hamiltonian double latin squares

open access: yesJournal of Combinatorial Theory, Series B, 2003
A double Latin square (DLS) of order \(2n\) is a matrix of order \(2n\) in which each of \(n\) symbols occurs exactly twice in each row and twice in each column. Thus a DLS is a particular type of frequency square. In a natural way, each DLS of order \(2n\) encodes a 2-factorisation of the complete bipartite graph \(K_{2n,2n}\).

Digital Transformation and Informal Innovation in Africa: Reframing STI Policy for Inclusive Circular Economy Transitions

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Amid increasing environmental and economic pressures, Africa's transition to a circular economy (CE) presents a vital pathway to inclusive, low‐carbon development. Yet, how digital transformation, informal innovation, and science, technology, and innovation (STI) policy readiness shape CE outcomes remains underexplored.

The Modified Latin Square

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1957
Summary The modified latin square design (semi-latin square) is described and discussed. The expectations of the mean squares are derived and, from these, the nature of the bias is developed. Empirical values of the bias are obtained from some corn uniformity data and found to be small.

Powering Transparency: Global Drivers of Sustainability Reporting in the Electricity Sector

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We examine the drivers of sustainability reporting quality (QSR), conceptualised along two complementary dimensions, relevance and reliability, to assess how firm‐level attributes and institutional conditions jointly shape disclosure practices in the electricity sector.

One missing value problem in Latin square design of any order: Exact analysis of variance

open access: yesCogent Engineering, 2017
This research proposes a simplified exact approach based on the general linear model for solving the K × K Latin square design (LSD) with one replicate and one missing value, given the lack of ready-made mathematical formulas for the sub-variance.

Zero Deforestation Commitments and Industry 4.0 Enabling Technologies: An Analysis of Their Role in Mitigating Deforestation

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the role of corporate zero‐deforestation commitments (ZDCs) and Industry 4.0 (I4.0) enabling technologies in mitigating deforestation. Drawing on data from 110 companies included in the Forest 500 dataset, the research explores whether sustainability commitments and digital innovation influence firms' deforestation ...
