A Class of Simple Lattice-Ordered Groups [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1965
A lattice-ordered group (I-group) is said to be regular if no positive element of the group is disjoint from any of its conjugates. It is well known that every simple regular i-group is totally ordered [5]. The subgroups of the reals are the most elementary examples of regular simple i-groups; other examples can be found in [2] and [6]. In this note we

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

On the Riesz structures of a lattice ordered abelian group [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A Riesz structure on a lattice ordered abelian group G is a real vector space structure where the product of a positive element of G and a positive real is positive. In this paper we show that for every cardinal k there is a totally ordered abelian group

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Information Structures in an Ordered Information System Under Granular Computing View and Their Optimal Selection Based on Uncertainty Measures

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems, 2020
Information structures (i-structures) in an ordered information system (OIS) are mathematical structures of the information granules (i-granules) granulated from the data set of this OIS.

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

The SP-hull of a Lattice-Ordered Group [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
There have been several recent papers on the subject of the P-hull and the SP-hull of an l-group (lattice-ordered group). The most natural formulation of the concepts was given by P. Conrad in [6]. T.

Thermal features of Heisenberg antiferromagnets on edge- versus corner-sharing triangular-based lattices: a message from spin waves

open access: yesJournal of Physics Communications, 2023
We propose a new scheme of modifying spin waves so as to describe the thermodynamic properties of various noncollinear antiferromagnets with particular interest in a comparison between edge- versus corner-sharing triangular-based lattices. The well-known

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Commensurate-incommensurate transition in the chiral Ashkin-Teller model

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2022
We investigate the classical chiral Ashkin-Teller model on a square lattice with the corner transfer matrix renormalization group algorithm. We show that the melting of the period-4 phase in the presence of a chiral perturbation takes different forms ...
