Lattice Boltzmann schemes without coordinates

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2004
We discuss recent developments extending the scope of the lattice Boltzmann method to unstructured (coordinateless) grids with arbitrary connectivity. Besides their intrinsic interest as examples of discrete kinetic systems living in irregular phase-space, the above extensions bear a direct relevance as computational tools for multi-scale applications.

Effective volumetric lattice Boltzmann scheme

Physical Review E, 2001
An efficient fractional volumetric scheme is proposed for lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). By reducing the effective time step, the scheme possesses much better stability particularly for thermal LBM. The same accuracy and simplicity of the standard LBM are preserved for achieving the Navier-Stokes equation.

Finite-volume lattice Boltzmann method

Physical Review E, 1999
We present a finite-volume formulation for the lattice Boltzmann method (FVLBM) based on standard bilinear quadrilateral elements in two dimensions. The accuracy of this scheme is demonstrated by comparing the velocity field with the analytical solution of the Navier-Stokes equations for time dependent rotating Couette flow and Taylor vortex flow.

Essentially Entropic Lattice Boltzmann Model

Physical Review Letters, 2017
The entropic lattice Boltzmann model (ELBM), a discrete space-time kinetic theory for hydrodynamics, ensures nonlinear stability via the discrete time version of the second law of thermodynamics (the H theorem). Compliance with the H theorem is numerically enforced in this methodology and involves a search for the maximal discrete path length ...

Lattice Boltzmann Method

2004
The lattice Boltzmann method is a discrete computational method based upon the lattice gas automata — a simplified, fictitious molecular model. It consists of three basic tasks: lattice Boltzmann equation, lattice pattern and local equilibrium distribution function. The former two are standard, which is the same for fluid flows.

Entropic Lattice Boltzmann

2018
Abstract The LB with enhanced collisions opened the way to the top-down design of LB schemes, with major gains in flexibility and computational efficiency. However, compliance with the second principle was swept under the carpet in the process, with detrimental effects on the numerical stability of the method. It is quite fortunate that,

Axisymmetric lattice Boltzmann method revised

Physical Review E, 2011
A reformulated lattice Boltzmann model is described for incompressible axisymmetric flows with or without swirling. It is a further development and improvement on the author's axisymmetric lattice Boltzmann method. The main features of the revised scheme are (a) all the macroscopic variables such as velocities are determined in the same formulas as ...
