A portable high-quality random number generator for lattice field theory simulations [PDF]
The theory underlying a proposed random number generator for numerical simulations in elementary particle physics and statistical mechanics is discussed. The generator is based on an algorithm introduced by Marsaglia and Zaman, with an important added feature leading to demonstrably good statistical properties.

Lattice Boltzmann phase-field modeling of thermocapillary flows in a confined microchannel
To understand how thermocapillary forces manipulate the droplet motion in a confined microchannel, a lattice Boltzmann phase-field model is developed to simulate immiscible thermocapillary flows with consideration of fluid–surface interactions.

Putting M theory on a computer
We propose a non-lattice simulation for studying supersymmetric matrix quantum mechanics in a non-perturbative manner. In particular, our method enables us to put M theory on a computer based on its matrix formulation proposed by Banks, Fischler, Shenker

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

Chiral Effective Field Theory after Thirty Years: Nuclear Lattice Simulations [PDF]
The introduction of chiral effective field theory by Steven Weinberg three decades ago has had a profound and lasting impact on nuclear physics. This brief review explores the impact of Weinberg's work on the field of nuclear lattice simulations. Rather than a summary of technical details, an effort is made to present the conceptual advances that made ...

On the Structure of the Lambda 1405 [PDF]
For almost 50 years the structure of the L(1405) resonance has been a mystery. Recently, a new lattice QCD simulation showing that its strange magnetic form factor vanishes, together with a comprehensive Hamiltonian analysis of the lattice QCD energy ...

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...
