Tube coalescence in the Jingfudong lava tube and implications for lava flow hazard of Tengchong volcanism

open access: yesInternational Journal of Speleology, 2016
Tube-fed structure occurs as a general phenomenon in Tengchong basic lavas, such as lava tubes, lava plugs and tube-related collapse depressions. We deduced the development of Laoguipo lava flows, which is the longest lava tube (Jingfudong lava tube ...

One hundred lava flows of Mt. Etna, Italy: July 2019–December 2023 update

open access: yesJournal of Maps
Integration of multi-sensor, multi-platform remotely sensed data is an effective methodology for monitoring active volcanoes as it ensures a constant data flow, which is needed for repeated eruptive events in brief intervals.

Numerical Simulation of Lava Flow

open access: yesPROCEEDINGS OF HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING, 1990
Lava flows are regared as Bingam fluid and its property is explained by rate process which is shown by Arrhenius formula. Then, viscosity and yield steress are shown by exponential functions of temperature. The 1986 lava flows extruded by the fissuer eruption at lzu-Ooshima were repoduced by numerical calculation of two-dimensional unstady flow.

Satellite and Ground Remote Sensing Techniques to Trace the Hidden Growth of a Lava Flow Field: The 2014–2015 Effusive Eruption at Fogo Volcano (Cape Verde)

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Fogo volcano erupted in 2014–2015 producing an extensive lava flow field in the summit caldera that destroyed two villages, Portela and Bangaeira.

Seismic Stratigraphy and Geomorphology of Palaeocene Volcanic Rocks, Faroe-Shetland Basin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
2D and 3D seismic reflection data in the Faroe-Shetland Basin have been used to remotely study buried, large-scale Palaeocene volcanic structures emplaced during continental flood basalt volcanism in the Faroe-Shetland Basin.

Numerical simulation of lava flows based on depth-averaged equations

open access: yes, 2005
Risks and damages associated with lava flows propagation (for instance the most recent Etna eruptions) require a quantitative description of this phenomenon and a reliable forecasting of lava flow paths.

Mapping Recent Lava Flows at Mount Etna Using Multispectral Sentinel-2 Images and Machine Learning Techniques

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
Accurate mapping of recent lava flows can provide significant insight into the development of flow fields that may aid in predicting future flow behavior.

Lunar Mare Lava Flow Dynamics and Emplacement: Predictions of Non-Newtonian Flow Dynamics, Syn- and Post-emplacement Cooling and Volatile Release Patterns, and Vertical and Lateral Flow Structure Development

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
We apply basic principles of magma ascent from deep source regions and its eruption into a low-gravity vacuum environment to develop a theoretical treatment of the fluid dynamics and thermodynamics of mare basalt lava flow emplacement and evolution on ...
