Improving Law‐Enforcement Effectiveness and Efficiency in Protected Areas Using Ranger‐collected Monitoring Data

open access: yes, 2017
Protected areas are fundamental for conservation, yet are constantly threatened by illegal activities, such as cattle encroachment and wildlife poaching, which reduce biodiversity. Law enforcement is an essential component of reducing illegal activities.

Robust Physics‐Informed Neural Network Approach for Estimating Heterogeneous Elastic Properties from Noisy Displacement Data

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Heterogeneous distributions of elasticity parameters are learned from noisy displacement data using the Inverse Elasticity Physics‐Informed Neural Network (IE‐PINN). This approach integrates both data‐driven and physics‐driven methods to address the significant limitations faced by existing techniques.

The Role of Heart Rate Levels in the Intergenerational Transmission of Crime

open access: yesSocieties, 2017
Several prospective multigenerational studies have shown that crime runs in the family, while empirical research on the biological causes of crime has also established that low heart rate is related to antisocial behavior. This study examines whether the

Topologically Protected Negative Entanglement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
It is revealed that topological flat‐band edge states can lead to robust unconventional negative entanglement entropy scaling. This arises from a new mechanism of non‐Hermitian critical skin compression (nHCSC), which strongly “compresses” quantum information beyond flat‐band degeneracy.

Aptamer Engineering: Strategies for Discovering Functional Nucleic Acids for Next‐Generation Diagnostics and Biosensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The advent of aptamers has highlighted their potential as alternatives to antibodies, overcoming limitations of structural instability and production cost. However, conventional approaches such as SELEX remain slow and labor‐intensive. This review examines recent advances in aptamer engineering, emphasizing in vitro and AI‐driven in silico strategies ...
