FMint: Bridging Human Designed and Data Pretrained Models for Differential Equation Foundation Model for Dynamical Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, EarlyView.
FMint is introduced as a multi‐modal foundation model that integrates human‐designed solvers and data‐driven methods for fast, accurate simulation of dynamical systems. FMint leverages in‐context learning within a transformer‐based framework to refine coarse numerical solutions.

Social Norms and the Enforcement of Laws [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2014
We examine the interplay between social norms and the enforcement of laws. Agents choose a behavior (e.g., tax evasion, production of low-quality products, corruption, harassing behavior, substance abuse, etc.) and then are randomly matched with another agent.

The CRL7FBXW8 Complex Controls the Mammary Stem Cell Compartment through Regulation of NUMB Levels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In breast cancer (BC), NUMB loss of function (LOF) is common and mainly driven by protein hyper‐degradation. The CRL7FBXW8 complex is the E3 ligase responsible for NUMB degradation. Inhibition of CRL7FBXW8 in NUMB‐LOF BC cells restores NUMB levels, and decreases the number of cancer stem cells and tumorigenic ability in vivo. Targeting CRL7FBXW8 offers

Imperfect Competition Law Enforcement [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2003
Competition policy is a subject of often heated debate. Competition authorities, seeking to prevent or battle anticompetitive acts in complex cases to the best of their abilities, regularly find themselves advised by rival economic theories and disputed empirical analyses.

BrainFusion: a Low‐Code, Reproducible, and Deployable Software Framework for Multimodal Brain‒Computer Interface and Brain‒Body Interaction Research

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
BrainFusion is a low‐code software framework for multimodal brain–computer interface (BCI) and brain–body interaction research. It supports electroencephalography (EEG), functional near‐infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), electromyography (EMG), and electrocardiography (ECG) integration with standardized preprocessing, feature fusion, and model ...

Reconstructing Three‐Dimensional Optical Anisotropy with Tomographic Müller‐Polarimetric Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tomographic Müller polarimetric microscopy is a novel imaging technique that resolves 3D birefringent properties of bulky samples, unveiling hierarchical nanostructures at microscopic resolution. Based on incoherent visible‐light polarimetry, it achieves experimental simplicity by eliminating phase measurements.

Born to Fear the Machine? Genetic and Environmental Influences on Negative Attitudes toward AI Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Why do some people fear or distrust AI agents more than others? This twin study shows that negative attitudes toward AI may partly stem from genetic factors, linking them to traits like victim sensitivity and moral beliefs. These findings show that it is not only nurture but also nature that shapes our views of AI, with implications for future human–AI

Materials Selection Principles for Designing Electro‐Thermal Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Materials property – performance relations are established for new and old electrical materials leveraged as electro‐thermal oscillators emulating neuron dynamics. Robust, reconfigurable, high frequency, low power characteristics are explicitly tied to highly nonlinear electrical transport, small specific heat, and greater electrical than thermal ...
