Layer-by-layer assembly of organic films and their application to multichannel surface plasmon resonance sensing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This thesis provides a study of a single chip, multi-channel surface plasmon resonance (SPR) imaging system. The equipment has no moving parts and uses a single sensor "chip" onto which multiple channels can be incorporated.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Multi‐Scale Volumetric Dynamic Optoacoustic and Laser Ultrasound (OPLUS) Imaging Enabled by Semi‐Transparent Optical Guidance

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Major biological discoveries are made by interrogating living organisms with light. However, the limited penetration of un‐scattered photons within biological tissues limits the depth range covered by optical methods.

Construction of multifunctional coating with cationic amino acid-coupled peptides for osseointegration of implants

open access: yesMaterials Today Bio, 2023
Osseointegration is an important indicator of implant success. This process can be improved by coating modified bioactive molecules with multiple functions on the surface of implants.

Layer-by-Layer Self-Assembly for Reinforcement of Aged Papers

open access: yes, 2016
The hybrid films of reinforcing the aged papers have been employed via layer-by-layer (LBL) assembly deposition of the chitosan lactate/carboxymethyl cellulose complex previously modified with metal oxide.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Fabrication and characterization of novel multilayered structures by stereocomplexion of poly(D-lactic acid)/poly(L-lactic acid) and self-assembly of polyelectrolytes

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2016
The enantiomers poly(D-lactic acid) (PDLA) and poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) were alternately adsorbed directly on calcium carbonate (CaCO3) templates and on poly(styrene sulfonate) (PSS) and poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) multilayer precursors in ...

Stretchable, Nano‐Crumpled MXene Multilayers Impart Long‐Term Antibacterial Surface Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, 2023
Infections are a significant risk to patients who receive medical implants, and can often lead to implant failure, tissue necrosis, and even amputation. So far, although various surface modification approaches are proposed for prevention and treatment of
