An increasing interest is being placed in the detection of genes, or genomic regions, that have been targeted by selection because identifying signatures of selection can lead to a better understanding of genotype-phenotype relationships.

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Subchronic Toxicity of Ivermectin and Butaphosphan in Layer Chickens
The development of new veterinary drugs to treat and prevent poultry parasitic infections, as well as the study of their safety is a hot topic for modern parasitology. The purpose of this research was to study the subchronic toxicity of the ivermectin and butaphosphan-based drugs at a therapeutic and threefold therapeutic dose during a seven-day oral ...

How phagocytic cells kill bacteria: Lessons from a professional killer
How phagocytic cells ingest and kill bacteria has been studied for more than a century, but many questions remain unanswered. The study of the amoeba Dictyostelium discoideum brings new answers, and new questions. Professional phagocytic cells such as neutrophils and macrophages, as well as free‐living soil amoebae like Dictyostelium discoideum, employ

Prediction of Layer Chicken Disease using Fuzzy Analytical Hierarcy Process
Chicken disease belong to the herpes group that often attacks poultry like laying hens. Various types of diseases that can attack such as marek, IB chicken, chicken NP, CA, EDS. Therefore it is necessary to be given a special vaccine for poultry that can

Genetic Parameters and Cellularity of Adiposity in Layer-Type Chickens
Genetic parameters concerning weight of abdominal fat pads were determined for a randombred layer-type population. Progeny by the upper (U) and lower (L) 10% of the sires with respect to weights of fat pads were compared. Cellularity measures were made of the fat pads from random samples of the two groups of progeny.

Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral
