Optimal automatic table layout
Proceedings of the 11th ACM symposium on Document engineering, 2011Automatic layout of tables is useful in word processing applications and is required in on-line applications because of the need to tailor the layout to the viewport width, choice of font and dynamic content. However, if the table contains text, minimizing the height of the table for a fixed maximum width is a difficult combinatorial optimization ...

Stress aware layout optimization
Proceedings of the 2008 international symposium on Physical design, 2008Process-induced mechanical stress is used to enhance carrier transport and achieve higher drive currents in current CMOS technologies. In this paper, we study how stress-induced performance enhancements are affected by layout properties and suggest guidelines for improving layouts so that performance gains are maximized.

Layout optimization by pattern modification
Conference proceedings on 27th ACM/IEEE design automation conference - DAC '90, 1990This paper introduces a new and practical approach to several layout optimization problems. A novel two-dimensional pattern generator, in connection with a set of routing and placement transformations, is employed to efficiently solve problems ranging from Wire Crossing Minimization and Topological Via Minimization to Minimum Steiner Tree Optimization ...

The annotation of electrical information or constraints is a well established method to transfer information on design intent from the electrical to the physical designer. In this paper, we will discuss the possibility to extend the concept of annotation as vehicle to hand over critical information from the physical designer to the resolution ...

Journal of Structural Mechanics, 1977
This chapter is devoted to the optimal design of a grillage of horizontal beams that are to transmit a given vertical, downward loading to given supports. The beams are to have rectangular cross sections of a common uniform height but variable width. The given loading is to be at the load-carrying capacity of the grillage, and the total volume of the ...

Optimal layout of recursive circulant graphs
International Journal of Computer Mathematics: Computer Systems Theory, 2021Graph is a mathematical model represented by points and lines joining certain pairs of points. These points are addressed as vertices or nodes and the lines are addressed as edges or links.

Optimal Layout of CMOS Functional Arrays
IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1981Designers of MOS LSI circuits can take advantage of complex functional cells in order to achieve better performance. This paper discusses the implementation of a random logic function on an array of CMOS transistors. A graph-theoretical algorithm which minimizes the size of an array is presented.

Layout-Agnostic Order-Batching Optimization
2021Order-batching is an important methodology in warehouse material handling. This paper addresses three identified shortcomings in the current literature on order-batching optimization. The first concerns the overly large dependence on conventional warehouse layouts.
