Abstract Tropical cyclones (TCs) can be considered as Carnot heat engines, where thermodynamic efficiency depends on the sea surface temperature (SST) and TC outflow temperature (To) in the upper atmosphere. This study investigates how TC efficiency in the western North Pacific (WNP) Ocean varies under different El Niño‐Southern Oscillation (ENSO ...

First Observations and Characteristics of Positive Upward Illumination Strokes
Abstract Upward Illumination (UI) strokes are a subtype of cloud‐to‐ground (CG) return strokes characterized by two concurrent branches striking the ground a few milliseconds apart. The luminous channel of an UI stroke does not connect to the main channel, which gives this phenomenon its name.

Understanding the Climate Response to Different Vertical Patterns of Radiative Forcing
Abstract The dependence of climate response on the vertical structure of radiative forcing is studied using a set of idealized experiments, with horizontally uniform and vertically confined forcings. We find for a given effective forcing magnitude, higher‐altitude forcing causes a smaller global warming, owing to more negative cloud feedback.

Effect of Low‐Crystallinity Cellulose Produced by Shear and Cool Milling on Polyamide 6 Composites
Pure cellulose powder was processed using a milling machine equipped with a cooling unit to produce low crystallinity cellulose (LCC). Recrystallized cellulose (RCC) was obtained by recrystallizing LCC under conditions of 80 ºC and 90% relative humidity (RH).
