Responses of tidal duration asymmetry to morphological changes in Lingding Bay of the Pearl River Estuary

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2022
Tidal asymmetry is one of the main factors for generating net transport for waterborne materials in tidal estuaries, and thus, this phenomenon has significant influences on controlling morphological development and the ecological environment.

The Lithium Depletion Boundary and the Age of the Young Open Cluster IC~2391

open access: yes, 1999
We have obtained new photometry and intermediate resolution ($\Delta \lambda = 2.7$ \AA\ ) spectra of 19 of these objects (14.9 $\le$ $I_c$ $\le$ 17.5) in order to confirm cluster membership.

Extremal dyonic black holes in D=4 Gauss-Bonnet gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We investigate extremal dyon black holes in the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton (EMD) theory with higher curvature corrections in the form of the Gauss-Bonnet density coupled to the dilaton.

Exploring wave propagation behaviors in rock: A grain‐based perspective on mineral structures

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study investigates wave propagation in rock at the grain scale using a grain‐based model, revealing that mineral elastic modulus significantly influences wave attenuation while grain size and distribution have limited effects. A novel peak particle velocity attenuation prediction model is proposed and validated for grain‐scale wave propagation ...

Bifunctional Role of Surface Cobalt Doping as a Lithium‐Residue Scavenger and Surface Stabilizer in Single‐Crystalline Ultrahigh‐Ni Cathodes

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Surface cobalt coating on single‐crystalline NCA acts as a lithium‐residue scavenger and structural stabilizer. The protective layer suppresses moisture‐ and CO2‐induced reactions, mitigates crack formation, and inhibits the formation of NiO‐like rock‐salt phases. This dual‐function surface engineering enhances interfacial stability and electrochemical

Review: Paul-Thomas Kandzia & Thomas Ottmann (2003). E-Learning für die Hochschule. Erfolgreiche Ansätze für ein flexibleres Studium [E-Learning in Universities. A Successful Approach for a Flexible Study]

open access: yesForum: Qualitative Social Research, 2005
The concept is fantastic: studying independently of time and space. Within this notion of a virtual university, this scenario appears realistic. In particular, the continual advancement of technical possibilities gives credence to this aspiration.

Complement C3 mediates adolescent social isolation‐induced hippocampal synaptic deficits and sex‐specific emotional dysfunction

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Adolescent social isolation disrupts hippocampal function and exacerbates emotional symptoms, with sex‐specific patterns, as shown by human studies. In mice, social isolation decreased hippocampal synaptic density and calcium signaling, upregulated complement proteins, and activated complement‐mediated microglial synaptic phagocytosis.

Using rotation, magnetic activity and lithium to estimate the ages of low mass stars

open access: yes, 2014
The rotation rate, level of magnetic activity and surface lithium abundance are age-dependent quantities in stars of about a solar mass and below. The physical reasons for the evolution of these phenomena are qualitatively understood, but accurate ...
