The Emerging Potential of Lead-212 Theranostics

Hematology/Oncology Clinics of North America
The field of theranostics uses radiopharmaceuticals to diagnose and treat disease, allowing for a personalized approach to treatment. Most theranostic therapies involve the use of beta-emitting radiopharmaceuticals. Because of their higher energies and decreased range, the use of alpha-emitting radiopharmaceuticals offers potential advantages over beta-

The development of α-emitting radionuclide lead 212 for the potential treatment of ovarian carcinoma

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1989
alpha-Emitting radionuclides may be an effective alternative treatment against ovarian carcinoma because they have short half-lives and are densely ionizing, with high linear energy transfer to a depth of several cell diameters without requiring cellular oxygenation.

Diffusion coefficients of lead-212 clusters in purified air containing defined amounts of water vapor

Journal of Aerosol Science, 1990
The diffusion coefficients of 212Pb clusters in purified air were measured at various relative humidities and pressures. The diffusion coefficients were 0.045 ± 0.004 and 0.037 ± 0.001 cm2s−1, at pressures of 82.4 and 101 kPa, respectively, for a relative humidity range of between 3% and 80%. For relative humidities of

Assessment of temporal variations of natural radionuclides Beryllium-7 and Lead-212 in surface air in Tanay, Philippines

Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2019
Detection of radionuclides in surface air allows researchers to gain further insight on the behavior of radionuclides that may affect human radiation exposure especially in the event of a nuclear emergency. In this study, activity concentrations of naturally-occurring radionuclides Beryllium-7 (7Be) and Lead-212 (212Pb) in surface air and ...

Generation of lead-212 and radioimmunoconjugates for use in cancer therapy and the ‘emanating power’ of stearates

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2001
Abstract The emanating power of stearates (i.e. their ability to release radioactive gas generated within them) combined with the diffusivity of this gas, permit the spatial separation of Pb-212 from its longer lived and thus undesirable parents. A generator for the α-particle emitter Pb-212 is described.

Separation of lead-212 from natural thorium solution utilizing novel sulfonamide dibenzo-18-crown-6

Dalton Transactions
The extraction of lead-212 (212Pb) from radioactive thorium (Th) waste is immensely important, as it serves to mitigate environmental risks associated with radioactive waste and provides a vital source for medical isotopes.

Quantitative Radiochemical Procedure for Analysis of Polonium-210 and Lead-212 in Minerals.

Analytical Chemistry, 1963
A method for the analysis of polonium-210 (138.4-day half life) and lead- 212 (10.6-hour half life) in zircons and other natural systems was developed. The procedure employs spontaneous electrodeposition on silver for the isolation of polonium-210 and controlled-potential electrogravimetric separation of lead- 212 plus added lead carrier.

Radioimmunotherapy targeting of HER2/neu oncoprotein on ovarian tumor using lead-212-DOTA-AE1.

Journal of nuclear medicine : official publication, Society of Nuclear Medicine, 1998
The specificity, toxicity and efficacy of lead (212Pb) radioimmunotherapy were evaluated in nude mice bearing the SK-OV-3 human ovarian tumor cell line expressing the HER2/neu proto-oncogene.The therapeutic agent used was the tumor-specific anti-HER2/neu monoclonal antibody AE1 conjugated to 212Pb, 212Bi being the daughter and thus the source of the ...
