Image-Based Feature Extraction Technique for Inclined Crack Quantification Using Pulsed Eddy Current

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2019
Existing eddy current non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques generally do not consider the inclination angle of inclined cracks, which potentially harms a larger region of a tested structure.

A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications in Uremic Toxins From 1991 to 2024

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Uremic toxins are a growing area of research in nephrology, with significant implications in the progression and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the management of end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD). This bibliometric analysis aims to evaluate the global research trends, key contributors, and the impact of publications in ...

Effectiveness of a Novel Low‐Density Lipoprotein Apheresis Device Rheocarna in Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis With Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia: A Single‐Center Retrospective Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) is a severe form of lower‐extremity artery disease characterized by distal lesions and microcirculatory impairment, limiting revascularization efficacy. Rheocarna is a direct hemoperfusion low‐density lipoprotein (LDL) adsorption device with potential rheological and anti‐inflammatory ...

Aerodynamic and Aerothermal Performance of Power-law Shaped Leading Edge of Hypersonic Waveriders

open access: yes, 2013
A numerical study is presented on three- dimensional power-law shaped leading edge for waveriders in hypersonic flow. This work is motivated by interest in researching the flow field properties of power-law shaped leading edge as a possible candidate for

Long‐lived larch clones may conserve adaptations that could restrict treeline migration in northern Siberia

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2020
The occurrence of refugia beyond the arctic treeline and genetic adaptation therein play a crucial role of largely unknown effect size. While refugia have potential for rapidly colonizing the tundra under global warming, the taxa may be maladapted to the

Non‐destructive and contactless defect detection inside leading edge coatings for wind turbine blades using mid‐infrared optical coherence tomography

open access: yesWind Energy, 2023
Leading edge erosion of wind turbine blades is one of the most critical issues in wind energy production, resulting in lower efficiency, as well as increased maintenance costs and downtime.

Superhydrophobic Coatings for Corrosion Protection of Stainless Steel

open access: yesAerospace, 2023
Corrosion is a persistent challenge in the aviation industry, affecting the safety, performance, and maintenance costs of aircraft. While composite materials have gained widespread use due to their lightweight properties and corrosion resistance, certain

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Methodology for the energetic characterisation of rain erosion on wind turbine blades using meteorological data: A case study for The Netherlands

open access: yesWind Energy, 2021
Rain erosion on the leading edge of wind turbine blades is an intricate engineering challenge for the wind industry. Based on an energetic approach, this work proposes a methodology to characterise the erosion capacity of the raindrop impacts onto the ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
