TMC4 localizes to multiple taste cell types in the mouse taste papillae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Transmembrane channel‐like 4 (TMC4), a voltage‐dependent chloride channel, plays a critical role in amiloride‐insensitive salty taste transduction. TMC4 is broadly expressed in all mature taste cell types, suggesting a possible involvement of multiple cell types in this pathway.

The Post-Apocalyptic Space, Character, and Morality in Middle-Grade Children’s Literature

open access: yesLeaf Journal, 2023
Stories for young readers overwhelmingly aim to educate on what is good and how a person must behave as a moral member of society. The question of how characters may further solidify moral right and wrong in the post-apocalyptic setting of my story The ...

Sustainable bioplastics manufacturing from renewable sources

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioplastics are manufactured by using polymers from different bio‐based sources. These novel materials not only offer biodegradability but also possess various functional properties that make them suitable for diverse applications. Recent developments in the preparation of bioplastics are reported, highlighting the distinct properties of each type of ...

Preliminary results on tartaric stabilization of red wine by adding different carboxymethylcelluloses [PDF]

open access: yesCiência e Técnica Vitivinícola, 2018
Despite being natural phenomena of physical-chemical stabilization of young wines, tartrate precipitations in bottled wines are often understood as a quality fault.

Compact leaves of codimension one holomorphic foliations on projective manifolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This article studies codimension one foliations on projective man-ifolds having a compact leaf (free of singularities). It explores the interplay between Ueda theory (order of flatness of the normal bundle) and the holo-nomy representation (dynamics of ...

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Differential regulation of ZFAS1 splice variants by endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocyte cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

Meta‐analysis fails to show any correlation between protein abundance and ubiquitination changes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed over 50 published proteomics datasets to explore the relationship between protein levels and ubiquitination changes across multiple experimental conditions and biological systems. Although ubiquitination is often associated with protein degradation, our analysis shows that changes in ubiquitination do not globally correlate with changes in ...
