Effects of boron deficiency and low temperature on wheat sterility

open access: yes, 1996
Wheat exhibits sterility in many parts of subtropical and tropical Asia. Boron deficiency is believed to be the cause of sterility in many, but not all, cases.

Wavy‐Interlocked Stretchable Triboelectric Nanogenerators Enhanced by Liquid Metal Microflowers for Self‐Powered Wearable Motion Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic showing a stretchable triboelectric nanogenerator based on interlocked wavy architectures that uses EGaIn microflower‐embedded PVDF‐TrFE and Nylon‐6 nanofiber membranes. The multi‐petaled, electron‐rich EGaIn microflowers enhance interfacial polarization and capacitance, while the interlocked wavy architecture enlarges the effective contact ...

Morphogenetic and structural characteristics of clones of elephant grass managed under intermittent stocking

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2016
This work was carried out to evaluate the morphogenetic and structural characteristics of basal and aerial tillers of two dwarf elephant grass clones (BRS Kurumi and CNPGL 00-1-3) managed under intermittent stocking in six grazing cycles.

Stress History Establishes a Transient Tolerant State That Shapes Antibiotic Survival Upon Resuscitation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High‐throughput single‐cell analysis of resuscitating bacteria reveals a starvation‐history‐dependent transiently tolerant subpopulation that survives β$\beta$‐lactam exposure by temporarily reducing growth. Distinct from classical persisters, these actively growing yet dynamically modulated cells dominate survival across clinically relevant antibiotic

Dual Cytoplasmic and Chloroplastic Mechanisms Fine‐Tune Chloroplast Division through ARC3 Protein Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ARC3 levels are controlled by cytosolic and chloroplast proteolytic systems. PUB52 mediates ARC3 precursor ubiquitination and degradation in the cytosol, while CLPC1 promotes ARC3 degradation in chloroplasts, where ARC2 protects ARC3 from excessive breakdown. Disrupting these components causes chloroplast division defects, placing them upstream of ARC3.

Role of the Leaf Sheath in Elongation of the Internodes of Rice Plants.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Crop Science, 1992
The main aim of this paper is to present how the leaf sheath concerns internode elongation in rice, using the japonica cultivar Sasanishiki. Leaf sheaths were removed at the begining of the rapid elongation of the second internode, namely, the booting stage.

The growth of sun and shade leaves of Populus euramericana "robusta" in relation to age, light intensity and temperature

open access: yes, 1974
The growth and development of sun and shade leaves was investigated in Populus euramericana 'Robusta', growing under various light intensities and temperatures and on a substrate optimal for the roots.Strong correlations exist between the dimensions of ...

Can cell wall peroxidase activity explain the leaf growth response of Lolium temulentum L. during drought?

open access: yes, 1997
In two experiments, the effect has been investigated of a mild and a more prolonged drought on the spatial distribution of growth, epidermal cell lengths and cell wall peroxidase activities in the leaf elongation zone of the grass species Lolium ...

Cotton Recruits Soil‐Derived Delftia tsuruhatensis to Suppress Aphid Detoxification Via Salicylic Acid‐Mediated Defense

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study systematically reveals a complex interactive network involving plants, microbes, and insects, elucidating the ecological and molecular mechanisms by which cotton enhances its resistance to aphids through the active recruitment of the beneficial soil bacterium Delftia tsuruhatensis.
