Physicochemical Characterization and Storage Performance of Curcumin‐Loaded Vegetable‐ and Corn‐Derived Edible Films, With Preliminary Development of AgNP–κ‐Carrageenan Films for Food Packaging Applications

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, EarlyView.
Food by‐products were valorized into curcumin‐loaded κ‐carrageenan/cellulose/dimodan edible films containing corn or vegetable powder. Films showed hydrophilic surfaces and distinct thicknesses. Coated cherries exhibited significant weight loss differences after 3 weeks, whereas refrigerated fruit had the lowest loss.

Beyond Gut Modulation: A Critical Review of the Therapeutic Potential, Safety, and Clinical Prospects of Natural Polysaccharides for IBD

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
In this review, we critically summarized the application of natural polysaccharides (NPs) for the treatment of IBD. This approach combines, in a unique way (right), the basic structure–activity relationships of NPs from different origins (left) with their multipronged mode of action, which involves modulation of the gut microbiota and other ...

Metabolite Profiles and Antioxidant Activity of Dendrobium catenatum Under Simulated Wild Cultivation

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Dendrobium catenatum grown under simulated wild cultivation showed significantly higher flavonoids and stilbenes, leading to enhanced antioxidant activity in both leaves and stems compared to facility‐grown plants. Integrated metabolomics, antioxidant assays, and network pharmacology identified Denbinobin as a key multi‐target antioxidant compound ...
