The role of leaf and root functional traits in the Espeletiinae (Asteraceae) radiation

American Journal of Botany
AbstractPremiseKey innovations within a group result in ecological divergence. Those innovations involve functional traits that may reflect the species' adaptations to environmental conditions and to interactions within the community. The subtribe Espeletiinae is considered an adaptive radiation due to their exceptional diversity.

Leaf functional trait variation associated with salt tolerance in perennial ryegrass

Plant Biology, 2013
AbstractSalinity is one of major environmental stresses that dramatically threaten plant growth, and variations in genetic structure and functional traits have important effects on the salt tolerance of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenneL.). The objectives of this study were to: (i) assess the inter‐clonal variation of functional traits of accessions ...

Leaf vascular architecture in temperate dicotyledons: correlations and link to functional traits

Planta, 2019
Using 227 dicotyledonous species in temperate region, we found the relationships among densities of different-order veins, creating diversity of leaf vascular architectures. Dicotyledonous angiosperms commonly possess a hierarchical leaf vascular system, wherein veins of different orders have different functions.
