Vitex L. is a pantropical genus of Lamiaceae comprising 209 taxa. Brazil harbors 35 species, representing nearly 50% of the genus richness in the Neotropics, with the Amazon showing the highest richness, followed by the Atlantic Forest and Cerrado domains. Nevertheless, most taxonomic studies of the genus have been conducted in Africa and Asia.

Phenology and leaf adaptive strategies of Mediterranean maquis plants

Leaf phenology : from physiology to global change
The timing and duration of leaf deployment strongly regulate earth-atmosphere interactions and biotic processes. Leaf dynamics therefore have major implications for life on earth, including the global energy balance, carbon and water cycles, feedbacks to

The new species Barleria kulalensis I.Darbysh. & Q.Luke and Dicliptera huriensis I.Darbysh. & Q.Luke are described and illustrated and their extinction risk is assessed provisionally. The former is based on Barleria sp. G of the Flora of Tropical East Africa (FTEA), with recent field observation and collection of this species from the foothills of ...

From field to globe: upscaling of crop growth modelling
Recently, the scale of interest for application of crop growth models has extended to the region or even globe with time frames of 50-100 years. The application at larger scales of a crop growth model originally developed for a small scale without any ...

Solar Radiation Triggers the Bimodal Leaf Phenology of Central African Evergreen Broadleaved Forests
Central African evergreen broadleaved forests around the equator exhibit a double annual cycle for canopy phenology and carbon uptake seasonality. The underlying drivers of this behavior are poorly understood and the double seasonality is not captured by

Validation and application of the MERIS Terrestrial Chlorophyll Index.
Climate is one of the key variables driving ecosystems at local to global scales. How and to what extent vegetation responds to climate variability is a challenging topic for global change analysis.
