Transfer Printing and Reconfiguration of Soft Electronics Using Digital Microfluidics and Laser Machining

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a digital microfluidics‐based technique for transferring and reconfiguring soft nanomembranes. Laser‐machined nanothin membranes are picked up, transported, and aligned via tailored surface tension and the actuation of water droplets, enabling the development of flexible electronics, the integration of functional materials on 3D ...

A study of stomatal patterns in Plantago lanceolata L. Acer pseudoplatanus L. Sesleria caerulea L. in relation to environmental parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A baseline study of leaf stomatal density, stomatal indices, guard cell length and leaf area was made in three species; a grass, Sesleria caerulea L., a herb, Plantago lanceolata L., and a tree, Acer pseudoplatanus L.

Evaluation of Hyperspectral Reflectance Parameters to Assess the Leaf Water Content in Soybean

open access: yes, 2019
Nondestructive assessment of water content and water stress in plants is an important component in the rational use of crop irrigation management in precision agriculture.

3D Printing Innovations in Polymeric Porous and Patterned Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polymeric foams occupy a unique structural space between dense solids and open networks, where engineered void fraction governs mechanical compliance, thermal resistance, and mass transport. Additive manufacturing now enables precise spatial control over cellular architecture, unlocking designer foam structures across applications spanning crash ...

Greening and development in wheat seedlings [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
The greening of etiolated first leaf blades of wheat (Triticium aestivum Mercia) seedlings (referred to in the text as leaf tissue) was studied in relation to tissue age and water stress.

Are leaf physiological traits related to leaf water isotopic enrichment in restinga woody species?

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2013
During plant-transpiration, water molecules having the lighter stable isotopes of oxygen and hydrogen evaporate and diffuse at a faster rate through the stomata than molecules having the heavier isotopes, which cause isotopic enrichment of leaf water ...

Template‐Confined Synthesis of Shape‐Engineered Single‐Crystal Gold Microplates in Lithographically‐Defined Polymeric Patterns

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐crystal gold microplates are high‐performance nanomaterials with an impressive wafer‐based application space. Progress has, however, been tempered by an inability to exert synthetic control over microplate size, shape, and positioning. In this work, control over these parameters is demonstrated using a seed‐mediated synthesis that both confines ...

Use spectral derivatives for estimating canopy water content

open access: yes, 2010
Hyperspectral remote sensing has demonstrated great potential for accurate retrieval of canopy water content (CWC). This CWC is defined by the product of the leaf equivalent water thickness (EWT) and the leaf area index (LAI).

Determination of Leaf Water Content by Beta Ray Transmission

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Meteorology, 1970
The intact measurement of leaf moisture is attempted with the transmission of beta radiation.Transmitted radiation intensity I (cpm) is approximately represented byI=α·I0e-μMt(1+u), (1)where α=geometrical efficiency of the detection of transmitted beta radiationI0=incident radiation intensity (cpm)μ=mass absorption coefficient (cm2/mg)Mt=mass thickness

Leaf Area and Water Content Changes after Permanent and Temporary Storage

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Accurate measurements of leaf morphology must be taken to develop models of ecosystem productivity and climate change projections. Once leaves are removed from a plant they begin to lose water and degrade. If specimens cannot be measured immediately after harvest, it is important to store the leaves in a manner that reduces morphological changes.
