We present a novel proteolysis‐targeting chimera (PROTAC) system conjugated to lipoic acid gold nanoclusters (PLANC), designed to degrade pTau, regulate inflammatory signaling, and effectively traverse the blood‐brain barrier (BBB). PLANC degraded pTau at various phosphorylation sites, with mechanistic studies confirming proteasome‐mediated degradation

Janus Photonic Graphics by Stratified Assembly of Two Distinct Colloids
Double‐sided Janus photonic micropatterns with vivid structural colors are fabricated through a single‐step bottom‐up strategy. Density‐driven stratification and depletion‐mediated crystallization of PMMA and PS binary colloids lead to exclusive lattices on opposite surfaces under centrifugal force.

Leakage through defects in geomembrane liners under high hydraulic heads
textDams are among the most critical of civil engineering structures and are susceptible to damage due to seepage. Geomembranes have been used to minimize seepage problems in dams since 1959. However, geomembranes are vulnerable to damage, in the form of

Optimum time to refurbish a boiler feed pump at Eskom's power stations
A key focus area in power generation today is to improve equipment and plant efficiency, with this study specifically aimed to determine the optimum time to refurbish a boiler feed pump by analysing the internal wear of the annular seals. The boiler feed

A high‐Zn2+‐transference hydrogel electrolyte of ex‐PDADAM is developed via anion exchange at quaternary ammonium sites, achieving high Zn2+ transference number (0.86), ionic conductivity (8.10 mS cm−1), and toughness (51.25 MJ m−3). Symmetric cells are operated stably for over 2000 h, while flexible pouch cells retain 90.9% capacity after 300 cycles ...

The Interaction of Turbine Inter-Platform Leakage Flow with the Mainstream Flow [PDF]
Individual nozzle guide vanes (NGVs) in modern aero engines are often cast as a single piece with integral hub and casing endwalls. When in operation there is a leakage flow through the chord-wise inter-platform gaps.

Interface Effects in Ultrathin Silicon on Insulator Films
This work establishes a systematic framework to discriminate how bulk and interface phenomena affect charge transport in ultrathin P‐doped silicon‐on‐insulator (SOI) films. For Si films below 15 nm, electrical characterization demonstrates that interface states drive charge transport, shifting the metal‐insulator transition (MIT) critical dopant ...

Experimental measurement of leakage flow in centrifugal blood pump
In the design of a blood pump, leakage flow study is crucial as high leakage flow is necessary for good washout within the pump, thereby preventing thrombus formation.
