A Transformer with Adjustable Leakage Inductance

2006 12th Biennial IEEE Conference on Electromagnetic Field Computation, 2006
The leakage inductance of the transformer employed in a series resonant converter can be used for resonance to make the device more compact. The value of this inductance should be controllable and sufficient large. In this paper the novel structure of a transformer with adjustable leakage inductance is proposed and the design methodology is presented ...

Modeling of magnetizing inductance and leakage inductance in a matrix transformer

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1993
Winding and core geometries are described for a matrix transformer constructed from integrated core and z-folded flex circuits. The magnetizing inductance is derived using the reluctance method and exploiting structural periodicity and symmetry. The internal leakage inductance is computed from the magnetic field distribution, and the interconnect ...

Induction motor model with imbalance and leakage saturation

2017 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM), 2017
In this paper we present an alternative model of an induction motor that offers the flexibility required for simulation of phase faults scenarios as well as accounting for the effect of leakage saturation in the motor. A non-DQ generalized model is developed and modified to incorporate saturation effect.

The influence of cooling ducts on the leakage inductances of induction machines

IET 7th International Conference on Computation in Electromagnetics (CEM 2008), 2008
In this paper the influence of the cooling ducts on the leakage inductances, and therefore on the breakdown torque, in induction machines is discussed. This effect is typically a three-dimensional one, and one has to analyse numerous geometrical variants.

Zigzag leakage of induction motors

Proceedings of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1907
Various formulas have been given heretofore for the predetermination of the leakage coefficient of induction motors, but the results derived from these formulas are so divergent that the formulas themselves are rather discredited. It seems to the writer that the following study about the values of the zigzag leakage may help to clear this somewhat ...

Inductance characterization of high-leakage transformers

Eighteenth Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2003. APEC '03., 2004
In this paper the inductances of high-leakage transformers are investigated by analysis, measurement, and finite-element simulation. Series-coupling tests, featuring differential coupling (series opposing) and cumulative coupling (series aiding), are conducted in addition to the standard open-circuit and short-circuit tests.

Skew leakage in induction machines

European Transactions on Electrical Power, 1994
AbstractMost induction motors have their rotor slots skewed, i. e. twisted away from the axial direction, with the intention to reduce harmful slot harmonic effects. As skewing affects the magnetic coupling between primary and secondary windings, also the fundamental harmonic performance is involved.

A novel transformer with adjustable leakage inductance

International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2017
Considering the challenge that the parameter of inductor is fixed and its adjustment is difficult in traditional power electronic circuit, herein we present a newly structural transformer with adjustable leakage inductance which integrates transformer and inductor. Its leakage inductance can be adjusted online.

On Determination of Leakage Inductances of Transformer Windings

Russian Electrical Engineering, 2019
Abstract—When designing a transformer structure and numerical simulation, it is needed to calculate the parameters of an equivalent circuit. One of the most important parameters is the leakage inductance of two windings or of their parts, the calculation of which can be relatively easily performed solely for simple cases of equal high windings.

Calculation of leakage inductance in transformer windings

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1994
A formula is presented to calculate mutual impedance between transformer windings on ferromagnetic cores. The formula is based on the solution of Maxwell's equations for coils on ferromagnetic cores and as such offers the ultimate in accuracy. The formula is frequency dependent, taking into account the effect of eddy currents in the core on the flux ...
