Reconfigurable leaky-wave antennas

2018
In this chapter, an overview of the recent development of reconfigurable high-gain antennas is presented. These antennas range from reconfigurable Yagi antennas, reconfigurable reflectarrays and reconfigurable transmitarrays to reconfigurable PRS antennas.

Development of leaky-wave antennas

2016 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (APSURSI), 2016
This presentation overviews the development of leaky-wave antennas (LWAs) and the area of leaky waves, starting with the first LWA that was introduced and the early pioneering work of Marcuvitz and Oliner in explaining leaky-wave theory. The development leads up through the present time, where LWAs have seen a renewed interest in the context of ...

Planar leaky-wave microstrip antenna

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium 1997. Digest, 2002
In a single microstripline, the dominant mode is "quasi" TEM, which is a non-radiating surface mode. The higher-order modes, however, become leaky when the propagation constant is less than that of the free-space wave number, k/sub 0/. One of the simplest ways to realize a leaky-wave antenna is to use a regular microstripline properly excited by a ...

Graphene terahertz leaky-wave antennas

2019
In this chapter, we focus on the recent developments made in the context of graphene THz antennas, especially those exploiting the graphene field effect to reconfigure their radiating features. To this purpose, we first review the electronic properties of graphene in the THz range from both a physical and an engineering perspective.

SIW leaky wave antennas

2014 44th European Microwave Conference, 2014
The substrate integrated waveguide can easily be integrated with planar microwave circuits. Antennas designed on this transmission line have a planar structure, and can be fabricated by a standard PCB technology, so they are suitable for mass production.

Metamaterial Based Leaky Wave Antenna

2019 8th Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation (APCAP), 2019
In this paper, a CRLH (Composite Right and Left Handed) leaky-wave antenna is proposed for V2X communication. The unit cell is composed of series chip capacitors and via for metamaterial properties. Also, the ground length is varied to attach on the automobiles. The size of the unit cell is 20×40 mm2 and the EM Simulation was used to see the results.

Compact SIW leaky wave antenna

2015 Third International Conference on Technological Advances in Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering (TAEECE), 2015
A compact Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) Leaky-Wave Antenna (LWA) is proposed. Internal vias are inserted in the SIW in order to have narrow walls, and so reducing the size of the SIW-LWA, the new structure is called Slow Wave — Substrate Integrated Waveguide — Leaky Wave Antenna (SW-SIW-LWA), since inserting the vias induce the SW effect.

Terahertz Fabry-Perot Cavity Leaky-wave Antennas

2019 PhotonIcs & Electromagnetics Research Symposium - Spring (PIERS-Spring), 2019
In this work we examine the recent efforts made in the design of either efficient or reconfigurable Fabry-Perot cavity leaky-wave antennas (FPC-LWAs) in the terahertz (THz) range. We start by discussing the radiating performance of an FPC-LWA consisting of a grounded dielectric slab (GDS) covered with a periodic arrangement of fishnet-like unit cells ...

Design considerations for leaky-wave antennas

Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1976
General radiation and frequency-scanning characteristics of leaky-wave antennas of infinite length as well as finite length are described. Analytical expressions for gain, side-lobe level and efficiency of a finite-length leaky-wave antenna, for which the propagation constant does not vary along the length of the antenna, are derived. These expressions

B7. Leaky-Wave Coaxial Antenna

2013 30th National Radio Science Conference (NRSC), 2013
Analysis and design of a coaxial leaky wave antenna with partially reflecting outer surface are presented. The leaky wave properties are controlled by adjusting the surface impedance of the outer surface, the filling dielectric constant and the dimensions of the inner and outer radii.
