Liquid Crystal-Based Wideband Reconfigurable Leaky Wave X-Band Antenna

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In this paper, a pattern and frequency reconfigurable leaky wave X-band antenna based on liquid crystal is designed. The frequency sweep characteristics of traditional leaky wave antennas are replaced by electrical properties of liquid crystal materials.

Photonic Engineering Enables All‐Passive Upconversion Imaging with Low‐Intensity Near‐Infrared Light

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A passive upconversion imaging system enables the observation of scenes illuminated by low‐intensity incoherent near‐infrared light from 750 to 930 nm, by converting it into the visible without the use of external power. The upconverter is enabled by triplet–triplet annihilation in a bulk heterojunction, with absorption enhanced by plasmonic resonators

PEDOT‐Based Eutectogel Electrode Arrays for Enhanced High‐Resolution Electrogastrography: Fabrication, Stability, and Wearable Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, we present a high‐density PEDOT eutectogel electrode array for enhanced body surface gastric mapping. Silver electrodes are blade‐coated onto flexible substrates, followed by electrogelation of PEDOT:PSS and the deposition of a PEDOT:LS eutectogel.

Guiding and Leakage Dispersion Characteristic of TM01Mode in a Circular Dielectric Rod

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2022
Open dielectric waveguide structures such as circular dielectric rods can be used as antennas by leaking energy in the transverse direction or as guiding structures with low loss in integrated circuits at different frequency ranges.

Broadband THz Corrugated Bull’s Eye Antennas

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
A 3-dB gain and input impedance bandwidth enhancement technique for THz periodically corrugated metallic antennas, also known as Bull’s Eye antennas, is presented. A novel design that exploits the depth qualities of the corrugations is introduced,

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Terahertz radar with all-dielectric leaky-wave antenna

open access: yesAPL Photonics
Terahertz radars based on leaky-wave antennas are promising for the realization of radar systems with high resolution over short ranges. This type of radar relies on spatial frequency mapping to realize a wide field of view without mechanical actuation ...

High Efficiency and Broadband Microstrip Leaky-Wave Antenna

open access: yesActive and Passive Electronic Components, 2008
A novel layout of leaky-wave antennas based on tapered design has been proposed and investigated. The new tapered leaky-wave antenna (LWA) was designed running a simple procedure which uses an FDTD code, and using a suitable metal walls down the ...

Viscoelasticity‐Induced Controllable Periodic Meso‐Textures of Liquid Crystal Polymers in Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Viscoelasticity‐driven instabilities are harnessed to create tunable, periodic textures in 3D‐printed liquid crystalline polymers. This study illustrates how processing parameters control these spontaneous meso‐scale patterns. These unique structural architectures unlock new possibilities for functional devices, ranging from photonic components to ...

Reconfigurable THz Fixed-Frequency Beamscanning Through a Liquid-Crystal-Loaded Leaky Waveguide Operating in Its Fundamental TE Mode

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
A rectangular metallic leaky waveguide loaded with liquid crystals (LC) and operating in its fundamental TE mode at 1 THz is proposed to mitigate the well-known trade-off between directivity and tunable angular range of dynamic beamscanning antennas. The
