Millimeter-wave dielectric leaky-wave antennas
Proceedings of ISSE'95 - International Symposium on Signals, Systems and Electronics, 2002A dielectric leaky-wave antenna with a new perturbation scheme is developed. The attenuation constant with different gap width between metal patches is determined experimentally. The dielectric waveguide used is an anisotropic sapphire rod. The conventional effective dielectric constant (EDC) method is modified to calculate the unperturbed propagation ...

Detection of IEDs with leaky wave antennas
2015 8th International Workshop on Advanced Ground Penetrating Radar (IWAGPR), 2015A novel leaky wave antenna with ultrawide band radiation and high fidelity (low dispersivity) is presented. The suitability of this antenna for a hand-held GPR is evaluated through measurements in a quasi-monostatic setup of an antipersonnel mine and an anti-tank IED-like object buried in dry sand.

Design considerations for leaky-wave antennas
Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1976General radiation and frequency-scanning characteristics of leaky-wave antennas of infinite length as well as finite length are described. Analytical expressions for gain, side-lobe level and efficiency of a finite-length leaky-wave antenna, for which the propagation constant does not vary along the length of the antenna, are derived. These expressions

Leaky-wave antennas with anisotropic metamaterials
2010 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2010Leaky wave antennas can offer high directivity and frequency scanning [1]. An isotropic dielectric slab with refractive index n > 1 does not radiate effectively unless spatial variations are introduced to excite fast-wave space harmonics [1]. To realize uniform leaky wave structures, potentially in the optical domain, a metamaterial slab with n ≪ 1 has

Lumped Element and Leaky-Wave Antennas for Millimeter Waves.
1984Abstract : Some millimeter wave antennas can be scaled from their microwave frequency counterparts, but others cannot because of two main problems; the small wavelengths, which require small waveguide dimensions and pose fabrication difficulties, and higher metal loss.

New millimeter-wave leaky-wave antennas
Proceedings of 1997 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference, 2002This paper describes a variety of leaky-wave line sources derived from an open waveguide, on which modifications in the cross section are introduced to produce radiation. This allows the control of the leakage rate along the length of the radiator making it possible to shape the radiation pattern.

The main radiation mechanism in a leaky wave antenna is a travelling wave in a guided structure. The main characteristics of a leaky wave antenna are: light weight, easy to fabricate. Leaky wave antennas have been in use since the 1940s. In this thesis, a portable and powerful leaky-wave antenna is designed, implemented, and demonstrated for scanning ...

The antenna has a layer arrangement (30) with three metallized layers (32, 34, 36) that are arranged parallel to each other and separated from each other by dielectric sheets (38, 40). Two of the layers comprise a two dimensions periodical metallization structure, and the third layer comprises a continuous metallization region. A stimulation structure (
