The leaky lens: a broad-band fixed-beam leaky-wave antenna [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2005
A novel type of leaky-wave antenna is presented. Differently from previously reported leaky-wave antennas, it is characterized by a constant beam direction over a very wide range of frequencies. The radiation originates at a slot etched at the interface between air and a dense dielectric, which is shaped to form a cylinder of elliptical cross sections ...

MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

Intrinsic Nanopore‐Assisted SnP2S6 Memristors With Ti Ion Dynamics for Compact Logic‐In‐Memory Hardware

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tin hexathiophosphate memristors leverage intrinsic nanopores together with a guided filament formation strategy to regulate titanium ion motion and switching behavior. The devices support reliable nonvolatile memory and reconfigurable logic‐in‐memory, demonstrating 14 Boolean logic functions in a single cell.

Performance analysis of a low cost wireless indoor positioning system with distributed antennas [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Radio Science, 2011
In this paper an approach for indoor localization based on already installed communication transceiver infrastructure is presented. Only marginal additional hardware is required to implement the localization functionality.

Atomic Layer Deposition in Transistors and Monolithic 3D Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transistors are fundamental building blocks of modern electronics. This review summarizes recent progress in atomic layer deposition (ALD) for the synthesis of two‐dimensional (2D) metal oxides and transition‐metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), with particular emphasis on their enabling role in monolithic three‐dimensional (M3D) integration for next ...

Multi‐Functional ZnO–Te Heterojunction Devices Enabling Compact Frequency Quadrupler

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Wafer‐scale ZnO–Te heterojunction devices featuring tunable double negative differential transconductance (D‐NDT) are demonstrated at ≤ 200°C. Leveraging this unique characteristic, a single‐stage frequency quadrupler is realized, achieving a 64%–75% reduction in device count.

Half width leaky wave antennas

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation, 2007
Leaky travelling wave antennas that use the first microstrip higher-order mode are analysed. The antennas investigated here are only half the width of previous leaky wave designs and utilise a structure that inherently suppresses the fundamental mode. Since mode purity is assured, the need for an elaborate feed structure is eliminated.

Patient‐Derived 3D Bioprinted Cardiac Organoid Constructs Reveal Key Pathological Features of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived cardiac organoids reveal key features of Duchenne muscular dystrophy cardiomyopathy, including apoptosis, oxidative stress, calcium handling defects, and mechanical remodeling. By integrating organoids into alginate–gelatin bioprinted constructs, disease phenotypes are organized into scalable 3D cardiac tissues displaying extracellular ...
