Focusing Light with Curved Guided-Mode Resonance Reflectors

open access: yesMicromachines, 2011
Employing numerical simulations, we investigate the possibility of using curved guided-mode resonance (GMR) elements to focus light in reflection. We treat GMR reflectors with a parabolic shape and show that they are capable of focusing light effectively

Periodic crack-model of comb transducers: excitation of interface waves

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2000
A model for a comb transducer is proposed and analyzed. It is shown that interface waves are generated in the comb-sample contact area. The interface waves are leaky waves that transport acoustic energy along the interface towards the comb edges, where ...

Millimeter-Wave Pencil Beam Leaky-Wave Antenna

open access: yes, 2021
Moving into higher frequencies, in occurrence withmodern applications, poses the issue of higher attenuation ofelectromagnetic waves, which in turn demand more directiveantennas. This paper proposes a directive antenna designoperating at 30GHz based on leaky-wave technology. Themodel consists of two main components.

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.

Role of the Recombination Zone in Organic Light‐Emitting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the critical role of the recombination zone in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). We highlight that broadening the recombination zone in OLEDs based on emissive layers with balanced charge transport and high photoluminescence quantum yields provides a promising route toward achieving both long operational lifetime and high ...

Wideband Modal Analysis of a Double-Layer Line-Wave Waveguide: Dispersive Properties and Radiative Effects

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation
A broadband modal analysis of a double-layer line-wave waveguide constituted by two center-symmetric pairs of inductive and capacitive metasurfaces is presented, with the aim of characterizing the dispersive and radiative properties of the relevant line ...

Hybrid Liquid Metal Cathode Enables High‐Performance Intrinsically Stretchable OLEDs

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report a hybrid liquid metal (Hyb‐LM) cathode engineered via selective rupture of liquid metal particles (LMPs), forming a bilayer architecture with a surface liquid metal (LM) layer and underlying LMP layer, which has benefits of both LM and LMPs.
