Development of leaky-wave antennas
2016 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (APSURSI), 2016This presentation overviews the development of leaky-wave antennas (LWAs) and the area of leaky waves, starting with the first LWA that was introduced and the early pioneering work of Marcuvitz and Oliner in explaining leaky-wave theory. The development leads up through the present time, where LWAs have seen a renewed interest in the context of ...

Radiation from cylindrical leaky waves
IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1990Formulas are derived for the far-infrared radiation pattern of cylindrical leaky waves propagating on a planar surface. The formulas can be used to predict the radiation pattern of a general class of leaky-wave antennas, consisting of a finite-size source which excites a radially propagating leaky wave on some planar surface.

Elliptically polarized leaky-wave array
IRE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1962This paper describes the application of Bethe's small-aperture theory and leaky-wave antenna theory to the design of planar arrays of rectangular waveguides radiating through small apertures arranged periodically in their broad walls. Such arrays can be designed to have any polarization, including circular, by suitable selection of the shape and ...

Lumped Element and Leaky-Wave Antennas for Millimeter Waves.
1984Abstract : Some millimeter wave antennas can be scaled from their microwave frequency counterparts, but others cannot because of two main problems; the small wavelengths, which require small waveguide dimensions and pose fabrication difficulties, and higher metal loss.

The antenna has a layer arrangement (30) with three metallized layers (32, 34, 36) that are arranged parallel to each other and separated from each other by dielectric sheets (38, 40). Two of the layers comprise a two dimensions periodical metallization structure, and the third layer comprises a continuous metallization region. A stimulation structure (

An antenna comprises a conically shaped body of dielectric material. Cross-sections of the body have truncated elliptical shape, wherein each shape is truncated substantially through a first focus of the elliptical shape along a truncation line that extends substantially perpendicularly to a main axis of the elliptical shape.
