NO(x) model for lean combustion concept
28th Joint Propulsion Conference and Exhibit, 1992In an effort to reduce the emissions produced by gas turbine combustors to meet the expected trends of more stringent regulations, a model to calculate NOx produced by lean combustion concepts is proposed. The model simulates the combustor by a number of reactors representing the main combustion as well as pilot zones.

Highly Preheated Lean Combustion
2016This chapter faces with the outstanding challenge of giving an objective and quantitative classification of moderate and intense low oxygen dilution (MILD)/high-temperature air combustion (HiTAC) combustion regimes based on measurable process status variables (ie, temperature and/or temperature increase).

Highly Preheated Lean Combustion
2008The terms “high temperature air combustion (HiTAC)” and “moderate and intense low-oxygen dilution (MILD)” combustion have only recently been defined. First published in the Combustion Institute Proceedings in 1998 (Katsuki and Hasegawa, 1998) and then in the Mediterranean Combustion Symposium Proceedings in 2000 (de Joannon et al., 2000), the ...

Engine Control System for Lean Combustion
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1987<div class="htmlview paragraph">The basic structure of a new engine control system for lean combustion is presented. A fuel atomizer is adopted to obtain a uniform mixture of fine fuel droplets, 40µm in diameter. A new air-fuel ratio sensor and an integrated control method for air flow are developed for precise and rapid response control of ...

Effect of injection and ignition timing on a hydrogen-lean stratified charge combustion engine
, 2021Hydrogen can be used as a fuel for internal combustion engines to realize a carbon-neutral transport society. By extending the lean limit of spark ignition engines, their efficiency, and emission characteristics can be improved. In this study, stratified

Vortex Generators in Lean-Premix Combustion
Volume 3: Coal, Biomass and Alternative Fuels; Combustion and Fuels; Oil and Gas Applications; Cycle Innovations, 1998A novel fuel-air mixing technique on the basis of vortex generators has been developed and successfully implemented in the worlds first lean-premix reheat combustor of ABB’s GT24/GT26 series industrial gas turbines. This technique uses a special arrangement of delta-wing type vortex generators to achieve rapid mixing through longitudinal vortices ...

Lean low NOx combustion concept evaluation
Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1991To investigate the potential of using the lean combustion concept to significantly reduce the emission of NO x from gas turbine combustors, a data analysis was conducted. The combustor tested comprises a prechamber in which the fuel is vaporized and mixed with air, pilot chamber, and main combustion chamber.
