Wow. That's the first word that comes to mind when I think about Lean. For me, that "wow" has several meanings. One: Wow, this philosophy and set of tools has tremendous potential. Two: Wow, Lean isn't just for manufacturing it can work anywhere. Three: Wow, healthcare is a place where Lean can benefit an entire community, or an entire country.

Attempts to reduce the “commodity” of treating illness into standardised processes is inappropriate from the start.
