Oscillations and Boundaries in My Route Through the Hippocampal Cognitive Map

open access: yesHippocampus, Volume 36, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT I outline my personal journey in hippocampal research from joining the O'Keefe lab in 1991 to the present, with a focus on earlier experimental and computational investigations of spatial cognition and neural representations in rodents, with some reference to extensions to humans and to other aspects of cognition.

Multispectral Laser‐Scanning Photoacoustic Microscopy With SRS‐Generated Wavelengths for Skin Chromophore Characterization

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, Volume 19, Issue 1, January 2026.
Unmixed maps showing vascular oxygen saturation (sO2), relative collagen, and relative melanin distributions. Maps were extracted from multispectral imaging of B6 and SKH1 Nude mouse abdominal skin using the proposed MS‐LS‐PAM system. ABSTRACT We present a single pump‐source, multispectral laser‐scanning photoacoustic microscopy (MS‐LS‐PAM) platform ...

Wavelength‐Agnostic 3D‐Nanoprinted Coupler

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 1, 8 January 2026.
A dual‐ellipsoidal 3D‐nanoprinted photonic coupler enables quasi‐free‐space propagation for wavelength‐agnostic, ultra‐broadband photonic interfacing. Combining matrix‐optics pre‐design with full‐vectorial simulations, it delivers a record‐wide 1 dB bandwidth exceeding 800 nm with ≈1.3 dB insertion loss.

Lightweight Spatiotemporal Network With Channel Attention and Multi‐Branch Fusion for Short‐Term Typhoon Wind Field Prediction

open access: yesMeteorological Applications, Volume 33, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Lightweight spatiotemporal network with channel attention and multi‐branch fusion for short‐term typhoon wind field prediction. ABSTRACT Accurate short‐term prediction of typhoon 10‐m wind fields is crucial for early warning and risk reduction. We propose a lightweight spatiotemporal deep‐learning model that couples a convolutional neural network (CNN)

Safety Considerations in Deployment of Robotic Systems – A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, Volume 43, Issue 1, Page 5-33, January 2026.
ABSTRACT An in‐depth understanding of the risks related to robotic systems is crucial to guarantee safety throughout all stages of robot design and operations. This required a thorough risk assessment following international standards. This study presents a systematic review of previous research on safety considerations in the design of robotic systems,
